Makeup and Beauty Product Reviews and Swatches

Here are the reviews as promised:

The Aloe Sun BB cream (shown on the left) contains aloe to hydrate and soothe your skin and is recommended for acne-prone and sensitive skins. Compared to the Gingko BB cream, the texture is slightly runnier which makes it easier to blend. It also has SPF20 to protect your skin from harmful UV rays but other than that, I do not see much of a difference between this and the Gingko Green.

As for the Mushroom Multi Care BB Cream (shown on the right), it is definitely my favorite out of the three! It contains aloe and mushroom extract, adenosine, arbutin and SPF 20 to help whiten and slow down the aging process for a brighter, more radiant complexion. It is recommended for mature skin and dull complexions. Like the Aloe Sun, the texture of this one is more runny and it feels very hydrating. It feels very light, almost like one of those watery moisturizers but gets absorbed into my skin instantly. My skin just glows after I put this on but I do not ever get oily on my t-zone when I use this. The smell of this one is also stronger than the other two but that does not bother me.

After reading a ton of raves about SkinCeuticals Retinol 0.5% Refining Night Cream, my best guy friend and I decided to both get it to see what the hype was all about. We made a deal to start using it on the same day and to keep a journal so we could compare our results after a few weeks. Read on for a brief intro about the product from SkinCeuticals’ website followed by our feedback.

I am *so* glad I jumped onto the BB cream bandwagon! This is definitely one of the products of the year for me!

The Skinfood Gingko Green BB cream, one out of the three BB creams Korean beauty brand Skinfood makes, contains Green Tea, Gingko Leaf, Vitamin B and Lecithin to provide both skin protection and skin correction. Basically, what that means is it has the properties of both a makeup and a skincare product. It can even out skin tone, camouflage undereye circles, acne scars and add radiance to the skin without the heavy mask-like effects of a foundation. Prolonged use of the product will also help improve the overall texture of the skin and fade scars caused by acne.

I went to Victoria’s Secret yesterday to check out their new Santa collection but ended up walking out with a few hair products from their So Sexy line. I got the Supersmooth Straightening Balm, Volumizing Shampoo and Conditioner for Fine Hair. All 3 for $21 – what a steal!

Let me start off with the shampoo and conditioner. Both products have been a rave for me so far. After using them once, I can already feel the difference. My hair appears softer, shinier and definitely bouncier. The smell is also fabulous and it lingers on for a long time. Every time I catch a whiff of it, I can’t help but go mmmmmm *lol* The shampoo, however, is pretty drying so you do have to follow up with the conditioner. I also really like the packaging. The tall pink bottle is just so cute and so VS!

As for the Supersmooth Straightening Balm, it is working just as great. I apply a dime-sized amount onto my hair and it looks just like the model’s on the picture on the right – straight yet full of volume. And the best part is, I do not even need a straightening iron and my hair stays that way for the entire day! Seriously how awesome and easy is that? I will definitely check out the rest of their products from this line.
