Dr. Jart+ Water Fuse Beauty Balm Review and Swatches

August 7, 2011

Besides the Bosica BB Cream SPF 27 PA++ I previously reviewed, another BB cream that debuted at Sephora this summer was Dr. Jart+ Water Fuse Beauty Balm SPF 25 PA++ .

Dr. Jart+ Water Fuse Beauty Balm

Dr. Jart+ Water Fuse Beauty Balm

Made with 50% water, the Water Fuse Beauty Balm is oil-free and uses an advanced Water Bead Technology to help hydrate and maintain healthy moisture for a dewy, fresh look. Ingredients include:

• Octinoxate, Octisalate, Titanium Dioxide to protect the sun against UVA and UVB rays
• Hyaluronic Acid and Sea Water Extrac to increase skin’s moisture content
• Aloe & Portulaca Oleracea to soothe, calm redness
• Neutralizing pigments to hide uneven skintone and blemishes

Straight out of the tube, the texture seemed to be on the thicker side. But as you blend, it turned semi-watery (you can see actual water beads!) and really quenched my dehydrated combination skin. The finish was dewy and slightly tacky.

Once the BB cream dried off, it fe;t very lightweight and looked just like skin. The color, which was originally a light neutral beige lighter than my NC30 skin, also seemed to settle and disappeared completely into my skin.

Before and After using Dr. Jart+ Water Fuse Beauty Balm

Another thing I loved about this was the coverage. Contrary to some of the reviews I read online, this provided the heaviest coverage for me. With other BB creams, I would always need a bit of concealer on top but with the Dr. Jart+, all I needed was a light dusting of pressed powder to set.

My only complaint was the lack of whitening/anti-aging/skincare effects, which are typical traits of BB creams and the one thing that makes them different from American tinted moisturizers.

Bottom line, I loved Dr. Jart+ Water Fuse Beauty Balm Cream for its ability to moisturize my skin while providing great coverage and sun protection. But if you are looking to experience a true BB cream, especially for its well-known skincare effects, I would try a different product.

Dr. Jart+ Water Fuse Beauty Balm Cream is available at Sephora for $32.

You are right, this cream doesn’t have anti-aging effects. There are some great products out there for anti-aging and wrinkles.
