NOTD: Purple Gel Nails With Gelish, MAC Pigments and OCC Glitters

June 19, 2011

Finally got to do my second set of gel nails with the Gelish Soak-off Gel System I reviewed last week! This time, I wanted to do purple look so I decided to mix my own color. Read on to see what I used!

Purple Gel Nails with Gelish Structure Gel, MAC Violet and Entremauve Pigments and OCC Beige and Slate Glitters

Base – Clear with Gelish Structure Clear Gel.

2/3 Of the Nail – A sheer mauve by mixing MAC Violet Pigment with Gelish Structure Clear Gel.

Tip – A dark purple by mixing MAC Entremauve Pigment with Gelish Structure Clear Gel. I also added a layer of OCC Glitters in Beige and Slate that I picked up from The Makeup Show Chicago.

I really loved how the colors turned out, especially with the glitter. They are super fine and just GORGEOUS!

Gorgeous nails again! Just wondering, is there a reason you purchased Gelish over brands like OPI’s Axxium or ibd’s Gelac? Thanks!

Yup I tried the Axxium and thought it was difficult to remove. The Gelish also works under both UV and LED lights and come in many more colors, including glitter and shimmer finishes.

Hi! I love your manis! I’m a new Gelish Junkie too – I wanted to ask how you’re mixing your pigments with the Structure? Do you just glop a bit of the Structure in an empty bottle? Also, do you find that you can use those mixes alone, and not any of the regular Gelish colors (like Simpler Sheer)?

    Thanks!
