MAC Venomous Villains Maleficent Collection Reviews and Swatches

October 7, 2010

Just like Maleficent herself, the limited-edition M·A·C Venomous Villains Maleficent Collection is about “a lot of crazy purples, blackened shades and beautiful pearlized nails”. So dark, mysterious and right up my alley!

MAC Venomous Villains Maleficent Collection

The Mineralize Eyeshadow Duos ($21) were the first to catch my eye. My Dark Magic is a deep pink with pink pearl paired with dark plum with purple pearl; while She Who Dares is a dark navy with blue pearl paired with deep forest green with lime green pearl. When applied dry, the eyeshadows were very glittery and barely showed up with much color. But once applied with a damp brush, the color became super intense and simply gorgeous. I have always loved MAC Mineralize Eyeshadows and these were definitely some of my favorites.

For the lips, I picked up Violetta Lipstick ($15.50), a gorgeous bright magenta in the Amplified formula from the PRO line. It applied smoothly with great pigmentation. The other lipstick, Dark Deed, was a burgundy plum also in the Amplified formula.

Briar Rose – Soft violet pink with pearl

Nail Lacquer ($13)
Bad Fairy – Red with red multi-changing pearl
Formidable! – Teal green with pink multi-changing pearl

Overall, I am really liking the Maleficent collection and it was my favorite out of the four! See the rest of the collection here!

the lipsticks are really cute! I think the eyeshadows look gorgeous in the pan, but they look a little sheer to me (actually I don’t know how heavily you swatches them, so maybe I’m wrong there).

The Maleficent collection is my favourite of the four as well. I picked up all the nail polishes and I am still debated on getting Briar Rose.

    Linda,

The last time I saw the Naked Palette was at my local Ulta store back in August. You might want to call and ask?

    makeup morsels,

The eyeshadows are indeed glittery and sheer when applied dry but the color turns really intense when applied wet. I will post swatches of them wet as well.

    Steph,

Aww maybe next time =) Are you looking for a specific Japanese brand? If you are just looking for Japanese clothing in general, there are lots of Asian-style malls in Causeway Bay, Mongkok and Tsim Sha Tsui that carry them.

Hey Philis, Thanks for the reply! Unfortunately, Ulta, Sephora, Nordy’s, etc are out in Washington!
