Makeup and Beauty Product Reviews and Swatches

Zorpia Photo Sharing: Free Unlimited Storage & BandwidthMy latest obsession is Kimberly-Clark’s DentaBurst Freshening Teeth Cleaners. These finger-glove-looking teeth cleaners are a great pick-me-up and I have been going through them like craaazy.

Unlike most gums and mints that just mask bad breath, DentaBurst actually help remove plaque from the surfaces of your teeth, allowing you to keep your smile bright and breath fresh. They come individually wrapped in a box of 12 about the size of a credit card, which makes it perfect for those who are always on the go like me. There are also two yummy flavors – Mint, my favorite, and Cinnamon, for a tingly sensation.

To use DentaBurst, simply put it on your index finger, place it on your teeth and start brushing just like you are using a toothbrush. No rinsing is necessary and you will feel and see a difference afterwards. Talk about easy and fast!

Dentaburst is available at Target, CVS and Rite Aid.

Zorpia Photo Sharing: Free Unlimited Storage & BandwidthI have always loved Asian beauty gadgets and in its latest summer 2008 collection, Shiseido’s Maquillage brought us the Mascara Combing Remover, a mascara-removing device that works even on waterproof mascara while conditioning your lashes.

Unlike traditional mascara removers that work like a mascara, the Mascara Combing Remover comes in a twist pen design with a comb on the top. This means no more pushing the wand in and out of the tube and having residue go back into the tube after you have removed the mascara plus you can actually clean the comb and wipe off mascara bits with a tissue – how hygienic!

To use the device, simply twist the back of the pen a few times and wait for the remover to get dispensed onto the comb. Next, comb your lashes as if you are applying mascara. Wait a minute or two for the product to dissolve your mascara and wipe off with a cotton pad. No rinsing is necessary.

I have had a couple of mascara removers that came with a wand but sadly, they all failed miserably. I am definitely going to pick this one up and report back. If you have this, let us know how you are liking it!

Skin Genesis, a line targeted at women in their 30s, is L’oreal’s latest creation. The line uses patented Pro-Xylane™, a “superior naturally-derived molecule so small it can penetrate skin’s surface layers” along with Hyaluronic Spheres to strengthen the upper layers of skin for stronger, smoother and more toned skin.

Baking Soda (~$2 to $5)
Believe it or not but plain old baking soda mixed with a creamy cleanser actually makes a pretty good exfoliator. I always use this with my Cetaphil cleanser whenever I run out of my favorite exfoliator or when I need something mild yet effective. And the best part is it does not even cost more than $5! Definitely give it a try!

Jurlique Biodynamic Beauty Refining Treatment ($35)
This is an all natural exfoliant from Jurlique’s latest Biodynamic Beauty range. It contains Jurlique’s one-of-a-kind Biodynamic Blend – Rose Gallica, Licorice Root, Black Elder, Chamomile, Pansy and Sweet Violet – to reduce redness and fade discoloration; along with Calendula, Horsechestnut, Soapbark Tree, Apricot Seed and Willow Bark extracts. It does not contain parabens, mineral oils, propylene glycol, sodium lauryl sulfate, synthetic emulsifiers, artificial colors or fragrances.

I definitely like the idea of this being a natural product since green is now the new black. The grains are medium-sized but do not scratch my uber sensitive skin a teeny bit. My skin just feels clean and smooth and never dry. The smell is also very natural and pleasant and reminds me of this moisturizer from Fresh. My only complaint is its price. $35 is pretty steep for an exfoliator – you can definitely find something with similar results for a cheaper price.

St. Ives Apricot Invigorating Scrub ($5)
This used to be my HG when I was younger. It contains 100% natural ingredients like Apricot extract, Walnut extract, Swiss glacial water etc. to deep clean pores. The grains are medium-sized and it is very effective in removing deadskin and cleaning out blackheads. I used to use this once a week and my skin would look so smooth and radiant afterwards. But now that my skin has gotten a lot more sensitive, I find it a little too harsh to use on my face. It still makes a great body scrub though.
