Runway Beauty: Kate Moss Inspired Looks at Monique Lhuillier A/W 2015

February 15, 2015

Paying homage to “La Moss”, lead artist Val Garland working for M·A·C Cosmetics created three gorgeous looks for the Monique Lhuillier A/W 2015 runway show.

The first look consisted of a heavily smudged eye and red lip. Garland blended Black Black Chromagraphic Pencil and Smoldering Black Bold Eye Liner to create a slightly winged smoky eye. Then, she intensified the lashline with Black Onyx Midnight Well Eyeshadow and Retro Black Pro Longwear Liquid Liner Pen before applying Upwardblack Upward Lash over curled, upper lashes and through the lower lashline, avoiding the actual lashes, for “dirty, rock ‘n’ roll” effect. On the lips, Garland used M·A·C Retro Matte Liquid LipColour in Dance With Me and So Grand with Ruby Woo Lip Pencil.

The second look was a toned down version of the first. Garland again used Black Black Chromagraphic Pencil and Smoldering Black Bold Eye Liner to create a slightly winged smoky eye and intensified the lashline with Black Onyx Midnight Well Eyeshadow. She applied Upwardblack Upward Lash on both upper and bottom lashes and blocked out lips’ natural color with Studio Waterweight SPF 30 Foundation.

Finally, the third look, also the most beautiful in my opinion, was inspired by “Kate Moss at her Beautiful and the Damned Birthday Party”. Garland blended Black Black Chromagraphic Pencil over the lid and outer corner of the eye as a base before topping Teal Performance Pigment on the lid to the outer corner and Beautyberry from the Trend Forecast Fall 15 from the crease to the upper outer browbone. She further darkened the outer corner with Plum Dressing Eyeshadow and finished with Upwardblack Upward Lash over curled, upper lashes and through the lower lashline, avoiding the actual lashes, for the same effect as the first look. The lips were toned down with Studio Waterweight SPF 30 Foundation to balance out the dramatic eyes.

Manicurist Gina Edwards created three different manicures to match Garland’s looks – a demure custom blend of Morgan Taylor In The Nude and a touch of Morgan Taylor Latte Please for a chic classic, a pearlized disco teal in Morgan Taylor Bright Eyes and unabashed glamour with a rich bordeaux base of Morgan Taylor Take The Lead topped with metallic plum Morgan Taylor If Looks Could Thrill.
