Stila One Step Makeup Foundation Review and Swatches

February 20, 2010

Stila One Step Makeup Foundation promises to roll primer, foundation, concealer and powder all into one product to deliver weightless, high definition, long wearing skin perfection for all skin types. Let’s find out if it really delivers!

The One Step Makeup is made from 100% natural mineral pigments with no paraben or fragrance. Ingredients include a new Youth Revival Bio-available Mineral Complex, which are 15 ionically charged minerals that read and react to all your skins needs, along with silicone, isododecane, hydrogenated didecene etc.

The foundation comes in a light plastic bottle with a pump, which is a great improvement from its previous heavy, pump-less glass bottles. There are 8 shades available to accommodate a variety of skin tones. I normally wear 30 Watts/C for Stila foundations and was sent Light, which is a light to medium color with neutral undertones.

The “light, mousse-like formula” was very different from your typical foundation. It had a creamy, almost fluffy texture similar to Dr. Denese SPF 30 Defense Day Cream. With one pump, you get about a pea size amount that is so dense and blendable it will spread to cover most areas (under the eyes, around the nose and chin).

The coverage was very light. If you have problem skin, I would suggest adding a concealer on top. Because of the silicones, this foundation had a velvety, slightly matte finish so I did not need to set with powder. It also wore really well throughout the day without oxidizing and no touch-ups or blotting was required for me.

My only problem was it did not seem to sit well with my dehydrated combination skin. While it worked great on my undereye area and cheeks, it highlighted any flakes that I have around my nose and chin. So as much as I liked the concept of the One Step Makeup, it is more suited for those with normal to oily skin with minimal skin imperfections.

The Stila One Step Makeup is available at Sephora, stilacosmetics.com and ULTA for $44.

    Ashley,

The One Step Makeup is a nice product that will even out your skin but if you want to cover up your acne scars completely, you will definitely need something with more coverage.
