How To: Create The Hollywood Glamour Look

April 3, 2007

Finally got to check out Dita Von Teese’s new book, Burlesque and the Art of the Teese/Fetish and the Art of the Teese, and all I can say is WOW! Read on to find out how you can nail the old school Hollywood glamour look.

Glamour Girl Must-haves

• False eyelashes. Long, lush lashes are the key to the come-hither sex kitten look. Try Ardell and M·A·C lashes for different lengths and styles.

• Red lipstick and liner. Even Dita herself stressed the importance of this in her book.

• Flawless, matte skin. Regardless of your natural skintone, skin should be kept polished and matte. Powder your entire face, especially the t-zone, with a velour puff and keep shimmer to a minimum.

• Black liquid liner winged on the outer corners. Enough said.

• Perfect eyebrows with a high arch. Be it bushy or thin, defined eyebrows are crucial to pull the look together.

• An oh-I’m-sexy attitude.

Hi! I love your blog and you are so talented! I love the eyeliner in the Hollywood Glamour look. I’m learning how to tightline…The liquid liner I use is ALMAY, and it comes in a little bottle with a spongy tip. It took me a while to do it because lining under my lashes then above my lashes left a gap. I had to wiggle the tip around my lashes. Do you think I’m better off just using cake liner?

I have a question that is completely unrelated to this post, but have you ever heard of the makeup brand “Bare Minerals?”

If so, what do you think of it?

Ava, I personally would go with peachy blush but I think it all depends on your natural skintone and the color of your blush. If you want to use pink, that’s perfectly fine. Just make sure the color is not too bright or else it would clash with the red lips.
