At Zac Posen Spring/Summer 2014, lead makeup artist Kabuki working for M·A·C Cosmetics created “one graphic element” while “keeping the face very romantic, beautiful” with soft colors on the cheeks and lip.
Kabuki started by blending Face Matchmaster SPF 15 Foundation onto skin for a matte finish, followed with a bit of concealer as needed to perfect. He added Hush Cream Colour Base over the high points of the cheekbone for a pearly, flesh-toned highlight, and set with Prep + Prime Transparent Finishing Loose Powder.
On the eyes, Kabuki mixed Bare Canvas and Sublime Nature Paints together and blended them over the eyes to match the overall skintone. He lined the waterline with a nude pencil, M·A·C PRO NC15/NW20 Chromagraphic Pencil, to open up the eyes and swept Lightscapade Mineralize Skinfinish on the lid to add dimension. Next, he created a graphic liner look along the upper lashline with On The Hunt Superslick Liquid Eyeliner while keeping the bottom of the eye smudgy with Feline Pencil. “This results in a bigger eye, which goes perfectly with the dramatic volumes in Zac’s collection,” said Kabuki. Lashes were coated with Haute & Naughty Too Black Lash Mascara and MAC #43 lashes were applied to the top lash. On models with prominent brows, concealer was used to tone them down.
To finish the look, Kabuki blended Keep It Loose Casual Color Lip & Cheek Colour (available Spring/Summer 2014) on the lips with a fluffy brush.
Nails-wise, manicurist Gina Edwards created an ultra-romantic, feminine “faded rosy garden” manicure with Morgan Taylor Coming Up Roses, an earthy pink, at the base, and fading at the tip to Morgan Taylor Polished Up, a cool pastel.
