Taupey Eyes with Nude Lips at Wes Gordon A/W ’14

February 16, 2014

The city following a rainy afternoon served as inspiration for the layers of grays and pops of brighter colors at Wes Gordan A/W ’14. “The beauty look is inspired by the taupes of a cold, rainy day. It’s a grayish brown, almost mushroom color. The Wes Gordon woman is strong and masculine; she wears just the right amount of makeup,” explained lead artist Alice Lane working for Maybelline.

Face
Fit Me! Foundation was applied to skin for natural coverage. Baby Lips in Quenched highlighted the outer eyes, nose and cupid’s bow. Color Sensational Lipcolor in Deepest Cherry was applied to the apples of the cheek, then blotted so only a hint of a rosy glow remained.

Eyes
Color Tattoo 24HR Cream-Gel Shadow in Tough as Taupe was applied to the center of the eyelid, blended and then a portion was removed with a Q-Tip. For a “last- night’s makeup” look, it was also applied below the eyes. Baby Lips in Quenched added sheen to the top of the eyelids. Fit Me! Concealer was applied under the eyes but lower than normal so as to not take away from the darkness of the under eye shadow. To create a strong brow, brows were brushed upwards with Great Lash Mascara in Clear. To mimic the brows, every single lash on the upper eyelid was coated precisely with Great Lash Mascara in Black.

Lips
In keeping with the natural look, The Buffs by Color Sensational were used on the lips. For added shine, Baby Lips in Quenched was applied with fingers to the center of the lips.

Nails
Drawing inspiration from the textures and bold colors in the collection, Rita Remark for essie created an edgy, wicked tipped French manicure. She first applied ridge filling base coat followed by 1 coat of penny talk then 1 coat of bordeaux. Next, she added matte about you then brushed on a neat arc across the edge of the nail with wicked.
