I have always loved the idea behind powder mineral foundations – their ease in application, lightweight formula and natural ingredients, seriously how can you not? But for years, I have had no luck finding the right product. Most brands either left my dehydrated combination skin dry and irritated or turned my face into a glittery disco ball. And just when I was about to give up on the search, I was introduced to London-based Lily Lolo Mineral Foundation and now I am *totally* hooked!
When it comes to foundations, I have always preferred liquid so here is my humble list of mineral foundation reviews. Enjoy!
Bare Escentuals bareMinerals SPF 15 Foundation ($25)
While a friend back in college raved about this, my experience with it was hooooorrible! Instead of the “creamy, delicately soft texture” it claims to provide, it dried out my skin, accentuated dry patches and left my face feeling itchy and irritated. It also did not cover well and was very shimmery. On the bright side, the wide color range, SPF 15 and the fact that you can mix and match different shades to get your perfect match are definitely its pluses. I would highly recommend you try this out at the store before you buy it.
I missed out on MAC Mineralize Skinfinish Natural when it was first released in the US last summer. It was completely sold out in Chicago and even the testers were gone. So when they were finally re-released with the MAC Mineralize Skinfinish & Satinfinish Collection, I was so stoked to try them out!
