With “melancholy with a touch of techno” serving as inspiration behind the Giles A/W 2014 Collection, makeup artist Lucia Pieroni working for MAC Cosmetics created a beautiful street punk makeup look with smoky lids and a pop of blue on the lower eye.
To complement the bright collection at J. Mendel A/W 2014, makeup artist Dick Page working for Maybelline created a gorgeous monochrome look on the models.
Clean skin and full brows dominated the runway of Christopher Kane A/W 2014. “This look is a tomboy reflection.” explained lead artist Lucia Pieroni for NARS Cosmetics.
At Marc Jacobs A/W ’14, models were made to look like mannequins. “The makeup look was really inspired by the collection, which is very “matte.” There’s nothing too silky and I wanted that to translate to the makeup. The eyelid is a pale neutral grey and we made it look bigger by foregoing mascara. The lips have a touch of frosted metallic silver. We used a lot of powder for a matte, porcelain finish.” said François Nars , Founder & Creative Director of NARS Cosmetics.
Inspired by the feminine villains of classic comic books, the look at The Blonds A/W ’14 was all about dramatic lips, bold brows and out-there nails.
The city following a rainy afternoon served as inspiration for the layers of grays and pops of brighter colors at Wes Gordan A/W ’14. “The beauty look is inspired by the taupes of a cold, rainy day. It’s a grayish brown, almost mushroom color. The Wes Gordon woman is strong and masculine; she wears just the right amount of makeup,” explained lead artist Alice Lane working for Maybelline.
