Maybelline Color Whisper Review, Swatches and Photos

Nothing brightens up a face faster than a pop of color on the lips. My must-have lippie this spring? Maybelline Color Whisper by Color Sensational, a new gel formula that claims to provide translucent color minus heavy waxes or oils.

Maybelline Color Whisper Reviews

Available in 20 shades that range from nudes, pinks, reds to purples, the Color Whispers come in a silver tube with a semi-transparent cap that matches the lipstick. The colors were all beautiful and so wearable! I ended up going home with three, which worked great against my NC30 skin:

* Cherry On Top is a bright medium pink with a touch of red.
* Lust For Blush is a my-lips-but-better light nude pink and my favorite out of the bunch.
* Berry Ready is a medium berry color.

I was very surprised by how opaque these applied. One single swipe gave medium and buildable coverage (YES even Lust For Blush!) and left behind a gorgeous high shine finish. The texture was also a godsend. The lipsticks felt soft, smooth and glided onto my chapped lips easily, without highlighting dry patches or lines. Plus the formula was much more hydrating than other gel formulas I have used in the past, yet completely weightless.

As for the wear, it seemed to vary from shade to shade. With the lighter colors like Lust For Blush and Cherry On Top, I was able to get a good 3 to 4 hour of wear while Berry Ready left a stained effect even after the color wore off.

Overall, I am very happy with the Maybelline Color Whispers. Not only do they offer great coverage in great colors, they feel moisturizing and stay on really well too. Can’t wait to go back for more!

  1. I’m am definitely going for Cherry, although Berry looks scrumptious as well. Did you use a liner for these shots or are the colors straight from the tube? Lovely shades, all 3 of them <3
