MAC Studio Pro Conceal and Correct Palette in Medium Review, Swatches and Photos

January 6, 2013

One thing I learnt from years of playing with makeup is to ALWAYS give beauty products that didn’t work the first time a second chance. Case in point? The new M·A·C Studio Pro Conceal and Correct Palette from Studio Pro Collection, which COMPLETELY changed my perception of the Studio Finish Concealer.

MAC Studio Pro Conceal and Correct Palette in Medium Review

Packed with four different shades of Studio Finish Concealers with two Studio Finish Correctors, the Conceal and Correct Palette comes in a sleek, clear case the same size as MAC Eyeshadow Quads. There are 4 sets of colors available – Light, Medium, Medium Deep and Dark.

Unlike the dry, hard-to-blend texture that creased and highlighted lines I remember from some 15 years ago, the Studio Finish Concealers in the Conceal and Correct Palette felt creamy and not drying. The tiniest amount provided excellent coverage and blended easily. When applied with MAC 217 Blending Brush, just like MAC Senior Artist Melissa Gibson preached at the Eras Reinterpreted Masterclass, it gave an almost air-brushed, natural-looking finish that did not even need powder to set. The SPF value has also gone from 15 to now 35, which is a plus. Needless to say, I was SOLD!

As for the color, I tried both Light (NC15, W10, NC20, NW20, Pale Yellow, Pale Pink) and Medium (NC30, NW25, NC35, NW35, Mid-yellow, Mid-peach) on my NC30 skin. While Light worked in camouflaging undereye circles and highlighting, I went home with Medium, which did a better job covering my undereye circles, freckles and redness around the nose and can also be used to contour.

My only gripe is the price. A regular Studio Finish Concealer gives you 7g of product at $18 yet the Conceal and Correct Palette contains only 6g of product at $40. You are essentially paying more than twice as much per gram in return for the ease of having different colors in a compact.
