A metallic eye can always be seen on the red carpet and runway for a reason – it can instantly add sizzle to any look and works on all eye shape. Below is a quick one I did using different shades of bronze from one of my favorite neutral palettes, Urban Decay Naked Palette. Read on for a step-by-step tutorial!
Step 1. Using a fluffy brush like MAC #217 Blending Brush, apply Urban Decay Eyeshadow in Half-Baked on the inner half of the eyelid.
Step 2. Apply Urban Decay Eyeshadow in Smog on the outer half of the eyelid. Blend so there is a gradation between the two colors.
Step 3. With Sonia Kashuk Pencil Brush, darken the outer corner and crease with Urban Decay Eyeshadow in Darkhorse.
Step 4. Run a dark kohl pencil like MAC Feline along the upper and lower lashlines. Add a small fleck on the outer corner for a cat eye effect.
Step 5. Layer Urban Decay Eyeshadow in Creep over the kohl to set and for a more dramatic effect.
Step 6. Coat upper and lower lashes with Estee Lauder Sumptuous Extreme Lash Multiplying Volume Mascara in Black.
Step 7. Apply Jealousness U.S.A. Diamond Beauty Lashes in JS-506 Scheming Beauty.
* To really make your metallic eye pop, dampen your brush with water or MAC Water-based Mixing Medium before you apply the shadow.
* Got warm undertones? Stick with bronzes, golds and coppers. On the pink side? Light blue, silver mauve or silver are your best bet.
* If you have single or hooded eyelids, avoid using metallics on the crease and remember to add in lots of black eyeliner and mascara.
* Always pair your metallic eyes with clean skin and neutral lips for a modern look.
Great tutorial and beautiful look! ♥ I like bronze and golden e/s and the Estée Lauder Mascara. 🙂
Really pretty look as always! By the way do you have a tutorial how to do wing your eyeline? Im pretty terrible at it and I think the shape of my eyes, makes it harder for me to do a cat wing.. since my lids tend to go downward more then up, if you get what Im saying 😀
If your eyes are droopy, start flecking the line upward in the middle of the lid instead of the outer corner. This can help create the illusion of a lift. I will do a tutorial on this shortly 🙂
p.s. Can’t believe you already got your hands on the Hey Sailor collection – so luckyyyyyyyy!
this is gorgeous! i love how you added the blue contacts aswell =)
Thanks 🙂 Bronze is my favorite color to make blue eyes pop.
I love this look, but i don’t think it will look the same on my eyes…what undereye concealer & foundation u have on this? btw I emailed you ;]
Just wrote you back!
Oh and I’m wearing Make Up For Ever HD Foundation with Bobbi Brown Corrector + Concealer.
Beautiful!! This is screaming my name. I love colours like these.
I love your step by step tutorials!
I don’t know whether you’ve answered this before but how do you get such a great V-Shape with your shadow?
Using a pencil brush really helps but if you want to use a fluffy brush like I did above, focus on just the tip of the brush.
Phyllis, love that shade of gold. Your colors are blended beautifully. Work it!!!
Thanks for sharing 🙂
I really like your contact lenses in this picture!
Where did you get them?
I really want the ones that you have! I think they look amazing!
What color are they and what type are they?
I love the extra tip section, I have a cool undertone of pink and you answered what colors to go to. I never tried silver, but will now.
I love this look as well. Actually all of your tutorials r beautiful! I’ve been looking at them for awhile now and didn’t realize they were all by you. I was wondering-do u have a you tube channel? I could really use some tutorials on application techniques and placement as well as blending. I know there are a lot of them out there, however when u find someone that applies exactly like you would like its nice to see them in action. (If that makes sense)
