TATCHA PURE One Step Camellia Cleansing Oil Review

April 6, 2012

To keep my skin clean and happy, I swear by double cleansing, a routine that involves using a cleansing oil followed by a foaming/creamy cleanser. But with TATCHA’s new PURE One Step Camellia Cleansing Oil, all I need is just one product to get the job done!

TATCHA PURE One Step Camellia Cleansing Oil

Inspired by the beautiful and wise Geishas of Japan, the One Step Camellia Cleansing Oil contains Japanese Camellia Oil, Green Tea Complete DNA Extract, Okinawa Red Algae Extract and Japanese Rice Bran Extract to melt away impurities and makeup, fight aging and hydrate skin. It is formulated without mineral oil, synthetic fragrances, sulfate detergents, parabens, PEGs, PPGs, urea, DEA, TEA or phthalate and is perfect for all skin types.

For $48, you get 150 ml of product, which is a bit more expensive than most brands including http://makeupforlife.net/2006/03/shu-uemura-high-performance-balancing-cleansing-oil-review.html”>Shu Uemura, DHC and NARS. But with this, you do get to save on a second product so it will even out to be the same, if not cheaper, in the long run.

The white bottle is simple yet sophisticated and reminded me of the Kenzoki skincare line that I loved. And unlike the usual Japanese cleansing oils you see on the market, this comes with a pump dispenser AND a cap, which means you don’t ever have to worry about spilling or leaking. Talk about genius!

As for the oil itself, it is clear and worked like your regular cleansing oil. You just have to apply onto dry skin, massage all over, add a few drops of water to emulsify then rinse off with warm water.

All my makeup got dissolved instantly and came right off in just one go, including long-wearing formulas like my favorite heavy duty Smashbox Studio Skin 15 Hour Wear Hydrating Foundation SPF 10. On waterproof formulas like my latest must-have, K-Palette 1 Day Tattoo Real Lasting Eyeliner, and Urban Decay 24/7 Glide-on Eye Pencil in Perversion (pictured below), it could still get a good 95% off without a separate eye makeup remover. My skin felt clean and refreshed with absolutely no irritation, greasy or tight feeling. Both thumbs up for sure!

TATCHA PURE One Step Camellia Cleansing Oil is available at TATCHA.com, Sephora and select Barneys New York locations for $48.
