A new addition to the Double Wear lineup, Estee Lauder Double Wear Mineral Rich Loose Powder Makeup SPF 12 is a mineral-rich, long-wearing loose powder that claims to deliver smooth, even, flawless-looking skin that stays fresh and looks natural even through heat, sweat and humidity for up to 12 hours.
The powder comes in a clever double-decker jar in Estee Lauder’s signature navy and gold colors. You get a mirror and puff applicator on the top and a loose powder with a sift at the bottom – prerfect for touching up or applying on the go.
There are six shades to choose from, which is rather limited, but Intensity 2.0, a neutral medium shade, is a good match for my NC30 skin.
The Retexturing Effex mineral-rich formula is finely milled and contains light-reflecting silicones to help disguise unevenness, blemishes and imperfections. It has a creamy, velvety texture that applies nicely without drying out my skin, highlighting patches, settling into fine lines or making my skin itch.
According to Estee Lauder, you can apply it with a powder foundation brush for sheer coverage, a powder brush for a finishing effect or the puff applicator for heavier coverage. I like to apply concealer under the eyes then use MAC #187 Duo Fiber Brush to buff the loose powder all over as a light layer of foundation.
While the powder does not cover up my redness and imperfections entirely, it does help set my concealer and even out my skin nicely, leaving behind a natural-looking, semi-matte and non-cakey finish. The powder also wears well on me without oxidizing or fading.
Estee Lauder Double Wear Stay-In-Place Loose Powder Makeup SPF 12 is available at Estee Lauder counters nationwide and Nordstrom for $34.
