My Latest Skincare Regimen

November 4, 2010

Since November is National Healthy Skin Month, I want to start a series of skincare posts to promote the importance of being good to your skin.

Now I don’t believe in using a ton of products or spending hundreds to get healthy skin, but I do believe in splurging on the basics when necessary. So below is a humble list of products I have been using to keep my dehydrated combo skin in best condition.

In The AM
* Sana Nameraka Honpo Soy Milk Lighter Toner applied with Japanese Facial Cotton Pads
* Origins Brighter by Nature SPF 35 Skin Tone Correcting Moisturizer
* Estee Lauder Re-Nutriv Ultimate Lift Age-Correcting Eye Creme

In The PM
* Kanebo Sensai Silk Purifying Cleansing Oil
* Kanebo Sensai Creamy Soap
* Botanics Soothing Eye Make-Up Remover
* Sana Nameraka Honpo Soy Milk Lighter Toner applied with Japanese Facial Cotton Pads
* Bobbi Brown Hydrating Gel Cream
* Estee Lauder Re-Nutriv Ultimate Lift Age-Correcting Eye Creme and Estee Lauder Advanced Night Repair Eye Synchronized Complex (I alternate between the two)
* Latisse

I also use the following scrubs and masks 1-2 times a week:

* Clarisonic Mia Sonic Skin Cleansing System
* Elemis Gentle Rose Exfoliator
* Boscia Luminizing Black Mask
* Various sheet masks like myfaceworks, my beautiful diary, Kose and Kanebo

Tell me what you are using too!

    Hi Phyllis,

    I just realize you finish your skin food sesame mask. will u repurchase in the future? or “nah, I’m done and that’s it.”

    may I ask what’s the name of your Japanese facial cotton pads?

      I still like the Skinfood Black Sesame Mask but I ran out and decided to try a new product.

      I got the Japanese facial cotton pads at Mitsuwa and it’s made by Hakugen (http://www.hakugen.co.jp/mekuru/).

    Hey Phyllis,

    Where can you purchase Kanebo Sensai products? I’ve been trying to make a switch to Asian skin care brands, but I’m having a hard time trying to find them in stores (buying online is not that convenient for me unfortunately). Thanks!

      Kanebo Sensai is available at select Bergdorf Goodman and Neiman Marcus stores. You can also call the Sensai counter at (212) 872 – 2537 or (800) 558 -1855 ext. 2537 to order.

    Hi Phyllis..Im using skII range for 2 years olready but it seems to dry me out recently….im just turning 25 and could see few lines due to dehydrated..do u think i should keep continue the range or switch to some other products? have you try kose medicated sekisei range? would you recommended it or do you have other product you could recommend? thanks luv

    • Reply Phyllis November 8, 2010 at 6:45 pm

      If the SK II line is no longer working for you, it is time to move onto something else. Sometimes, your skin can get used to a product after a while which is why I strongly recommend you alternate between different products.

      I have only tried the Kose Medicated Sekkisei Toner but I do like it a lot and I have been using it on and off for over 10 years now.

    Hi Phyllis, do you have a favorite my beauty diary mask? Or rather, do you recommend one of the my beauty diary masks over the others?

    • Reply Phyllis November 11, 2010 at 11:41 pm

      Personally, I find them to all work the same but my favorites are the Intensive Refining Eye Mask and Red Wine Mask.

    It’s a good idea to switch products every so often? But I hear of people using the same facial cleanser they’ve used for the past, say, 5 years!

    • Reply Phyllis November 11, 2010 at 11:35 pm

      Yup I’ve seen people do that too and I’m not saying that you should keep switching products all the time. I just find it better when I alternate between products that work, like when I do find something I like, I will use it up then go back to it after a while.

    Hi Phyllis,

    I’m 20 and was adopted from Korea when I was a baby. Growing up I never knew that my skin was different than my parents, who are white, but my skin has always been very dry and sensitive. Now that I’m older and realize the differences between our skin types, I’d like to switch to using products that will be better for my skin… But I also don’t have a lot of money. Are there cheaper alternatives to some of the more expensive brands by any chance? I’ve been having a hard time with finding some help on how to care for my skin since I’m adopted. Thanks a lot!

    Hallo,

    i have really pale skin but big dark pores. Not really blackheads problem, just issues with big visible pores (especially in the daylight visible). It looks horrible. I was wondering if you have any product that you can suggest. Brad, costs doesnt matter. I tried so much and nothing really worked.

    Thank you
    Olga
