March 27, 2010

It’s finally getting warmer here in Chicago. Time to bring out the brights!

Turquoise eyeshadow with pink lips makeup look

MAC Loud Lovely Sleek Jewels Palette FOTD
Blue Green Eyeshadow

What I Used

* Make Up For Ever HD Invisible Cover Foundation in #120
* Stila Espresso Eyeshadow
* Lumene Eye Makeup Base
* Sleek I-Divine Palette in Jewels
* MAC Fluidline in Blacktrack
* Lashes in #Diva
* MAC Mineralize Skinfinish in Comfort
* MAC Mineralize Skinfinish in Perfect Topping
* MAC Cremesheen Glass in Loud & Lovely

Step by Step How To

1. Apply Make Up For Ever HD Invisible Cover Foundation with MAC #109 Brush in a buffing motion.

2. Fill in eyebrows with Stila Espresso.

3. Prep the eyelid with Lumene Eye Makeup Base.

4. Using MAC #239 Brush, layer the foamy green shade (3rd from the left on bottom row) and teal shade (3rd from the left on top row) from the Sleek palette on the inner half of the eyelid. Apply the dark blue color (3rd from the right on bottom row) on the outer half of the eyelid. Blend until there are no harsh lines.

5. Rim the eyes with Blacktrack.

6. Soften the line on the lower lid by applying the dark blue color on the outer corner and the foamy green color on the inner.

7. Apply fake lashes on top.

8. Make your features pop by applying Comfort MSF along the cheekbones and Perfect Topping MSF along the bridge of nose.

9. Finish with Loud & Lovely Cremesheen Glass on the lips for a luscious look.

    Hey Phyllis, you look great, as usual!

    I was wondering if you could do a post on how you stay in shape (i.e. what kind of workout routines you do, what types of things you eat, etc). Thanks!

    hey! you look amazing here

    i was wondering what steps you used for your face makeup when you used the mineralize skin finish (i see you used two). did you just mix the colours or used one as a blush?

  • Reply Phyllis March 29, 2010 at 3:56 pm

    Thanks Charlene but I am definitely the last person you want to go to for tips to stay in shape. I don’t do anything *lol*

  • Reply Phyllis March 29, 2010 at 3:59 pm

    Thanks Jessica! The Comfort MSF is a medium bronze color so I used that to contour my cheekbones. Perfect Topping is more of a highlighting color so I applied that down the bridge of my nose.

    Hi Phyllis,

    Seriously, what do I need to do to have such flawless skin like you!!! Can you please share? I’ve always had problems with my skin and my pigmentation tends to be very dark and takes forever to go away. =(

  • Reply Phyllis April 7, 2010 at 3:37 pm

    Thanks Laila but I just do the usual stuff – drink a lot of water, get my beauty sleep, cleanse thoroughly, moisturize, use sun protection and stay away from alcohol/cigs. Other factors like genes, diet, environment etc. also play a role in how your skin looks.

    If you have pigmentation problems, you can always go see a derm for fading creams.

    Hiiiiiiiii Phyllis!

    I’m asian too! and I feel like we have about the same eyes, but just a little different. I just wanted to say that your makeup truly inspires me!!! It’s really amazing how you can come up with these different looks and create some type of beauty, whether it be more or less natural. I love doing makeup and I feel like I do alot of smokey eyes when I go out at night but I would love to change my look sometimes. Let me know if you have any secrets for that šŸ™‚

      Thanks Rita! My “secret” is to experiment with different colors and textures. The best thing about makeup is you can always wash it off at the end of the day so just keep trying different things.
