FOTD: Japanese Himegyaru Makeup Look

I have always wanted to try out the Gyaru look and after checking out Acen 2009, I decided to do a Casual Himegyaru-inspired FOTD.

What I Used

* Make Up For Ever HD Invisible Cover Foundation in #120 Soft Sand buffed in with Cat Cosmetics Kabuki Brush
* Anastasia Highlighting Brow Kit to fill in eyebrows
* MAC Mega Rich Pigment on entire eyelid
* NARS Surabaya II Eyeshadow very lightly on crease
* NARS Himalayas Eyeshadow to highlight brow bone
* MAC Blacktrack Fluidline to line the top and bottom
* Taiwanese False Lashes on top and bottom
* MAC Accentuate Shaping Powder along the bridge of the nose
* MAC Mineralize Blush Duo in Love Rock on cheekbones
* MAC Cremesheen Glass in Partial To Pink on lips

Hair
Since I have not dyed my hair in over 6 months and I normally wear it straight, I just curled the ends a bit with a 2-inch barrel curling iron.

  1. i realized that you dont seem to list which contacts or colour you are wearing anymore
please list that from now on
    love them and the look
youre soo talented and pretty =)!

  2. Funny how much attention that draws to your face esp eyes. and your hair looks great just by using the curling iron!

  3. OMG! I agree with what everyone said. Beautiful makeup and hair! What curling iron do you use/recommend? I really want to buy one but I just don’t know what to get.

  4. Hi Phyllis,
I was wondering what brush you used to apply the fluidline? I also use Blacktrack, but I can never get it to go on smoothly. Thanks!!

  5. Wow, I honestly cannot get over how perfect and smooth your skin is. I can’t even see the slightest sign of wrinkles around your eyes. Le sigh.

  6. Heather,

It’s all about using a good foundation and really buffing it in.

As for the wrinkles, I really have to thank my parents – it runs in the fam =)

  7. hi phyllis, your foundation application looks so natural and perfect! i just want to ask if you directly use the kabuki brush with the HD liquid foundation or do you use a foundation brush first and then buff it out? and also, do you set it with a powder or not at all?

  8. Hi Phyllis!
You look gorgeous in this look.
I was trying to find the eyeshadow color you used & could not find mega rich on MAC’s website. Could you possibly link me or recommend any drugstore brand eyeshadows with a similar gold-orange-auburn color? Thank you!

  9. synty,

I just take a pump of the foundation, dab onto the face (under the eyes and around the nose) and buff with the kabuki brush.

Since I have drier skin, I don’t always set my makeup with powder but I do make sure I mist my face with MAC Fix+ when I am done.

  10. Eunice,

Mega Rich was a limited edition color from the Overrich collection.

For drugstore dupes, try Maybelline’s Bronze Glitz Trio Eyeshadow and Cover Girl’s Golden Sunrise 1-Kit Eyeshadow.

  11. I really like this look, especially the eye make-up part. I always have trouble applying eyeshadow and the eyeliner “tail.”

  12. wow..you’re so good..
can you give me tips on how to have flawless face like yours??
you really have good skin..wish you could reply to this..
    thanks..
