i always look forward to your posts!

thank you for sharing your secrets with us. i am in the market for a new sunscreen and this one sounds great (light, high sunscreen, moisturizing). Where can I buy the Vichy sunscreen? Do they sell it in the CA? Also, for normal/dehydrated skin, you think it’s OK to use the facial masks more than 3 times a week?

last but not least, what’s the texture of the bliss groovy serum?

    Hi Tina,

Vichy is sold on their website:

    http://www.vichyusa.com/

Yes it is okay to use hydrating facial masks more than 3 times a week if your skin is dry/dehydrated. A lot of models/celebs in Asia actually do this every day because all that makeup they wear + crazy work hours + stress can lead to dry skin.

The bliss serum feels very light and not sticky at all.

    Hey Phyllis,
Actually this week I have been wondering why you have not posted things about skin care recently. I have tried the Skin Food BB Cream. Magic! Best foundation I have EVER used. Thanks for the recommendation.
Can you talk about the eye treatment you are using, the Skin Food Sesame Mask and the NARS hydrater in detail? Do you use neck treatment? It will be awesome if you can also talk about how to correctly use deep cleansing oil.
Thank you so much! I really really enjoy your blog.

    Jasmine,

Here’s a review of the Skin Food Black Sesame mask:

    http://makeupforlife.net/2008/11/skin-food-black-sesame-hot-mask-review.html

The NARS Hydrator is basically a super lightweight gel-cream mask that can also double as a moisturizer. It works great on dehydrated skin and is one of my top beauty must-haves. You can also mix a bit of it into your foundation to help create a dewy look and make your foundation glide onto your skin and blend like a dream.

Check out this entry for more info on cleansing oils:

I will post a review about the eye cream shortly. Just search for eye cream reviews on the search engine on the top right.

    Blackbeauty,

If you ever hit up Chi, check out this Japanese market called Mitsuwa. It’s located in Arlington Heights which is a NW suburb 30mins away from downtown.

Phyllis, I’ve noticed that you don’t use a cleanser for the AM. Is a cleaner required prior to make-up and after waking up? I’ve been having small breakouts all over my face lately, and my skin is also dry from the winter weather. Will washing with just water be enough for mornings?

Vichy Aqualia Thermal Lotion SPF 30 24 Hr Fortifying Moisturizer

    Hi Phyllis,
I really want to know more about this product. I want to start using an AHA cream soon and it increases senstivity to the sun. I’ve been trying to find a sunscreen, but haven’t found anything yet. I have combo skin, oily t-zone normal cheeks. I have blackheads/whiteheads/clogged pores in the T-zone area. Is this lotion oil-free and does it clog pores? How much product is in a bottle and how long does it usually last you? Thank you much!

    Alena,

I think it all depends on your skin type. My face never gets oily when I wake up in the morning so I just simply wash it with warm water and it works great for me.

If you want a gentle cleanser for the AM, try Cetaphil.

hey Phyllis..! i have the same question as above regarding the Aqualia Moisturizer… i have an oily t zone and dry, sensitive, red cheeks. is the texture of the moisturizer suitable for my skin? i find that after putting on moisturizer after a few hours, my t zone gets super oily… even if i’m using a gel based/ oil free forumla :S

lastly, where can i search your blog for advice about cleaning/minimizing poreS? do you have any product recs? sometimes i squeeze my pores to get the gunk out…lol :S

thanks so much! love your blog 🙂

    Hi Phyllis,

    I love your website.

What is the best eye cream for dark eye circles?

  • Reply Fiona May 5, 2009 at 11:15 pm

    Hey Phyllis,

I actually found a dupe for the NARS Aqua Gel Hydrator. It’s the Laneige Water Sleeping Pack Plus. It’s cheaper than NARS which means you will save money to buy other cosmetic items 😀

If you have the time, please check out my video on it: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1fnhRf9npPw

Thanks Fiona! I have tried the original Laneige Water Sleeping Pack. It does hydrate but I thought the scent was too strong (just like most other Laneige products). I’ll check out the Water Sleeping Pack Plus when I get a chance.
