Celebrity Makeup Breakdown: Kristen Stewart As Bella Swan in Twilight

December 2, 2008

So I gave in to the teenager inside of me and saw Twilight the second day it came out *lol* While British hottie Robert Pattinson looked totally yummy in the movie, I could not help but drool over female lead Bella Swan’s makeup. Played by actress Kristen Stewart, Bella’s look is soft and natural with an innocence that is totally to die for.

To match the descriptions of author Stephenie Meyer, makeup artist Jeanne Van Phue applied neutral makeup on Kristen with a light hand. Kristen also wore brown color contacts every day to achieve the “large, chocolate-brown and menacingly sweet” eyes Bella has.

According to Van Phue, the biggest challenge on the set was the rain. “We were outside all the time, and it rained the entire time we were there,” Van Phue said. “Most of the shots were exterior, and trying to fix makeup in the rain with wet face and wet brush was difficult.” The experience made her a convert to SK-II Air Touch makeup. “It goes on flawlessly — no smudges or streaks,” she said. “And I accidentally found out it was water resistant.”

* Visiora Compact Powder in PC 103

* Smashbox Limitless Lash Mascara in Black Waterproof

I’m a girl, but I was jealous of Robert Pattinson’s makeup. I think he looked even better than Kristen Stewart! That luminous, translucent skin…I really want to know how they achieved it.

hey phyllis, i totally love your makeup site. It rocks so much that I go to this blog every time i go online. I have a big problem though. I have an upcoming Christmas party coming, and I don’t know what makeup should i wear? I’m Asian so could you give suggestions that are available here. 😀 Also, could you give me advice how to do makeup without overdoing it? I would love to have makeup on, without anyone noticing me having. Thanks! looking forward for your response.:D

    Rachel,

Rob wore the same foundation as Kristen in the movie (SK-II Air Touch Foundation).

Yra, I actually did a Christmas party FOTD the other day. I will post it up tomorrow so please check back in a bit =)

As for the no makeup look, all you have to do is go nude. Stick with neutral colors and apply with a light hand. I personally would not recommend this for parties though because parties are the *perfect* occasion to wear something a little more out there. But if you’re new to makeup, neutral eyeshadow, pencil liner, mascara, a bit of concealer to cover up discolorations, a pink/peach blush along with a lipgloss should do.
