Bare Escentuals bareMinerals SPF 15 Foundation ($25) was the mineral foundation I ever used. While a friend back in college raved and raved about it, my experience with it was hooooorrible!
Instead of the “creamy, delicately soft texture” it claims to provide, it dried out my skin, accentuated dry patches and left my face feeling itchy and irritated. It also did not cover well and was very shimmery.
On the bright side, the wide color range, SPF 15 and the fact that you can mix and match different shades to get your perfect match are definitely its pluses. I would highly recommend you try this out at the store before you buy it.

omg! dammit i wish i bought the milani one when i was in the states.. dammit
haha i love BE though =)
what types of hairstyles do you recommend when going clubbing? i find that hair gets frizzy so quickly. any suggestions?
Hey! I love your blog. It’s soooooo helpful. Though this is completely unrelated to the entry, I really like this Maybelline volum’ express waterproof mascara. I was wondering if you’ve used it before?
And also, can you please do an entry on makeup for school?
Thanks for updating!!
Hey, thanks for doing a comparison on the mineral foundations. What is your skin type?
hey alienman! i didn’t know you read here too lol talk about great minds think alike.
I might try milani since it seems cheap enough. What about Physicians Formula? I like their mineral loose powder, but so few others are using it.
I have sensitive dehydrated combination skin (yah I know it sounds complicated) and I have come to the conclusion that mineral foundations are not for me.
phyllis: regarding your comment, I thought mineral makeup was designed for sensitive skin? Do you think it might be the bismuth because I noticed all the mmu you reviewed contain bismuth. I’m curious because my skin is super sensitive, and the slightest thing irritates it.
Have you tried EM Semi Matte? I like it way more than original glo. It’s not flat matte though the name says matte. However, I am not mineral foundation type of person too… though some mineral eyeshadows are nice.
Zero, yes I thought mineral makeup was supposed to work on sensitive skin too but even the EM is too much for me and that does not even contain any bismuth =(
hi i have a large pored skin and get break outs usually
i use bare minerals and i think it is awsome
it is kind of true that it wears off and feels oily and greasy but probably because certain types of skin produce oil.
anyways thanks
i love your blog
i had the same experience with bare escentuals. my skin gets itchy and the foundie leaves dry patches on my skin as well.
everyday minerals, i have used it as well. it’s quite good but i love the edm sunday brunch blush more that i love the foundie.
as for milani, i just bought one bia ebay and i’m excited to receive and test the foundie. i have read lotsa nice reviews about it. the only nega thing that most people complained about it is the horrible packaging and the not-so-skin-friendly brush. i’ll just be using my be soft focus facebrush on it. hey, your review of this product makes me so excited to try it. 🙂
i have also tried physician’s formula mineral wear (the loose mineral foundie) and it’s as good as wearing a foundie. the sorta kabuki brush is not so nice but the packaging is really cute.
i love you blog! you’re gorgeous with a truly impressive knowledge in makeup. anyway, i have a quick question, what foundation shade did you use in everyday minerals? i too have nc30 skin and i’ve been wanting to try edm. thanks for your input in advance!
Hi, your skintone is very similar to mine, and I am from HK as well! I want to try Everyday Minerals.. but can you tell me which colors worked for you? It would help me a lot. I’m not even sure which category of color we belong to. Are we warm/cool, beige/buff/olive? maybe even neutral? Thanks! 🙂
