Shiseido Anessa Neo Sunscreen SPF50 Review

May 21, 2007

Flip through any Japanese magazine and you will definitely see Shiseido Anessa Neo Sunscreen SPF50 ($38) (yes it is that popular in Asia!) So when it first came out in Hong Kong, I literally ran out and got myself a bottle. But sadly, that turned out to be a not-so-great idea.

Like most Japanese sunscreens, this goes on greasy but dries to a very matte finish and I mean very. In fact, it was so matte that it made my nose slightly flaky. Plus it gave my skin a ghostly white cast which was so not hot! So yes this may come with high SPF and pretty models in their ads, but I will not be buying it again.

I have to say most Japanese sunscreen lotions that come out this summer have defeated the white-cast effect !

Try them out, and you won’t be disappointed ! BTW, most of the sunscreens give matte finish in Asia because of the humidity here : )

I’ve been using shiseido’s extra smooth and ultimate protection sunscreen lotions. I like the extra smooth better though. I almost bought anessa while I was at narita airport,, thank goodness i didn’t!
