Highlighting 101: How To Highlight Your Features With Makeup

August 14, 2006

A lot of you have been asking me about highlighting, so what exactly is the deal? Basically, when you highlight a feature, you try to make it more prominent.

How To Do It
Highlighting different areas give different effects. For instance, highlighting the bridge of your nose will make it look taller while dabbing a shimmery gloss in the center of your lips will create an illusion of thicker lips. Other areas you can highlight are:

* Brow bone
* Inner corner of the eye
* Under the eyes
* Cheekbones
* T-zone (skip this if you have oily skin)

Product Recs
Highlighters mostly come in three forms – cream, liquid and powder. Below are some of my favorites:

* NARS All About Eve Eyeshadow Duo
* MAC Mineralize Skinfinishes in lighter colors
* MAC Strobe Cream
* Revlon Skinlights Lotion
* Wet n Wild All Over Shimmetr
* Stila All Over Shimmer powder
* MAC Cream Color Base in Pearl

The key to picking the right product is to look for products with fine shimmer particles and not glitter.

    What’s the difference between clay and mud packs? & What brands are good?

    i know you’ve been busy lately, so no rush.. 😀
