Winter is the perfect time to undo the damage and havoc wrecked by the sun during the summer. Below are a few tried and tested whitening skincare products from Japan and Korea, aka the motherland of all whitening wonders, that I love.
Growing up in Asia, I have always been taught that a pale, pigmentation-free complexion is the ideal beauty. I began my hunt for the perfect whitening product ever since I was 15 and after years and years of searching, I think I have finally found the one!
Developed by Dr. Raffaello Carullo and Dr. Fauzia Chaudhery at the Vivipharma laboratory in Italy, REphase D-White (Dermal White) is a progressive skin-lightening cream to effectively and safely remove skin discoloration that comes with age and sun exposure.
When I saw pictures of the Asian exclusive Stila Angel Light Whitening Powder Foundation (~$47), I could not resist the super cute packaging and ended up going through great lengths to get my hands on it.
The foundation came with SPF24+ and whitening properties to brighten your skin. Although I did not notice any brightening effect on my skin, the high SPF was definitely a plus. The finish was also very matte yet did not accentuate any dry patches.
The one thing that needed improvement though, was the color range. While I got the foundation in my usual Stila shade (C), it was very yellow – even on my Asian skintone. Plus when it oxidized throughout the day, it got darker by almost a shade!! As much as I loved the cute packaging, I will not repurchase.
