Bio-Oil Review

March 23, 2007

After DHC Olive Virgin Oil comes the oh-so-famous Bio-oil. Being voted one of the best skincare products in various countries, the product is now available officially in the US. Since I figured some of you would be interested in trying it, I went and bought a bottle at Boots today. I will be using this twice every day as instructed and I will update regularly so I can share my experience with you guys.

So what is Bio-Oil? It is a multi-purpose skincare product that combines Vitamin A, E, lavender oil, rosemary oil along with a new ingredient called PurCellin Oil to help reduce the appearance of scars and stretch marks, even out skin tone and treat dehydrated skin without clogging your pores.

Day One PM
After I got out of the shower, I followed the instructions and applied the product all over my body and face, gently massaging with my finger tips in a circular motion. My initial thought was that it felt like baby oil minus the heavy sticky feeling and the glistening. Within seconds, the product was fully absorbed into my skin and it left behind this slightly velvety feeling. My skin also felt instantly moisturized and I did not need another moisturizer on top.

Day Two AM
When I woke up this morning, I could not believe how soft and supple my skin felt. My face did not feel the slightest oily and all my flakes were literally gone! There were no changes on my stretch marks but my thigh area felt a lot smoother compared to before. And most importantly, I did not break out at all – yay! I will update again in about a week.

Yea, I read an article in a magazine just recently and wanted to try this! It had so many rave reviews! In the article it said to mix a drop or two with your regular lotion and then put it on, but I think just the bio oil by itself would work better? idk.. either way I’m deff. gonna be getting some of this!

I wouldn’t use this everyday, maybe every second or third day on the entire face because it broke me out. Maybe it doesnt happen for everyone but it did for me. And your face does feel so much softer the next day.

It’s available at local drugstores, like Walgreens or Rite-aid.

Phyllis, i have an image of a makeup i love love love, is it possible to send it to you and have you break it down? but since it’s a friend of mine, I didn’t want to have her photo on this blog publicly… would that be too much of a hassle?

also, next time when you get a chance, wanna share your tips on using blushes to accenuate the cheek bone?

    many thanksssss!!

I’ve also started using it recently, (2nd week only acctually! :))
I’ve noticed that my skin is more even toned, but have little breakouts in my t- zone, but i suspect that is from hormones (Tom is visiting :P)
My only concern is wearing it during the day, can you wear sunscreen on top? or would that be ‘too much’?
Great thing about this is that it fades scars, bye bye acne scars! :))

is it bad to use if you already have oily skin?

This product DOES NOT make stretch marks go away. I tried them on mine for 2 months and Bio-Oil only made them a bit softer. Actually, I believe that’s all Bio-Oil does is make the skin softer.

Does any one know if Bio-Oil works on insect bite scars? I mean not actual scars but you know when you get a brownish spot after the bite heals?

    Hi,

Bio-Oil works! I love this product. Anyway, I took before and after photos of my scar. After one month, I can really see an improvement of my scar. In three months, my scar improved dramatically. Check out my Bio-Oil Review blog. I would love to hear what other people have to say about Bio-Oil – good or bad.

On January 30, 2008 I had a total thyroidectomy with complications. I researched and found that Bio Oil haas natural ingredients so when my husband went to pick up my prescruptions from CVS (in the USA) he bought and brought some home for me. I find it is a remarkable product and since today is February 28, 2009, approximately 4 weeks after the surgery there have been many improvements. The swelling is down, the scar is smoother as does my entire face, neck and hands. I’ve even noticed an improvement in my nails.

I use the Bio Oil twice a day as recommended on the instructions. When the scar starts to itch as scars do, I also apply a bit and voilla’, no more itch.

I am now a firm believer this Bio Oil works. My husband even told me that it has improved wrinkles and makes my entire face much more radiant.

I have two words for Bio Oil ”””'”Thank You”….
