Fresh makeup paired with slicked back hair was the key to balance out the ethnic tribal prints and color-blocking at BCBG Max Azria S/S 2012.
Maybelline New York Global Makeup Artist Charlotte Willer created “fresh, radiant skin with a touch of lip balm to the eyelids for a healthy glow”.
• Fit Me! Foundation – applied with fingers all over the face and neck
• Fit Me! Powder – applied with a light hand, focusing only on the T-zone area and stopping short of a visibly matte effect
• Fit Me! Blush in Medium Coral and Deep Plum – applied sporadically around the face to create a naturally flushed look, “as if she’s just come in from a long run.”
• Baby Lips Lip Balm in Quenched – applied on models’ lips, letting their natural lip color show through. Also on models’ eyelids for a subtle sheen for an interesting accent to this otherwise clean look.
As for the hair, the inspiration came from Bond girl, Barbara Bach, in movie “The Spy Who Loved Me”. Hairstylist Neil Moodie for Bumble and Bumble wanted to recreate the scene where Bach comes out of the water with hair that is pulled back, slick yet sexy.
He started off by prepping models’ hair with Bumble and Bumble Prep and Thickening Sprays and drying hair naturally with a diffuser. Then, he applied Bumble and Bumble Gel from the front section to the crown and combed through with a wide tooth comb to give the effect as if it was done with fingers. For the beachy waves in the back, Moodie used a large barrel curling iron before setting with Bumble and Bumble Shine Spray for a slight dewy finish.
