Make Up For Ever Uplight Face Luminizer Gel Review and Swatches

April 15, 2011

Maybe it is because of the spring weather but lately, I have been COMPLETELY hooked on the dewy look. While I do like NARS Sheer Glow Foundation for achieving that, nothing beats a good luminizer like the new Make Up For Ever Uplight Face Luminizer Gel that instantly does the trick.

The Uplight Face Luminizer Gel comes in 8 shades and 3 finishes to reflect and refract light for exceptional luminosity. The Dewy and Pearly finishes are formulated with Make Up For Ever Star Powder for an iridescent effect on the skin, while the Sparkling finish contains Make Up For Ever Star Diamond Powder for a soft shimmer.

I have #23 Pearly Golden Flesh, a warm, coppery gold a tinge darker than my NC30 skin.

The oil-free formula is made of more than 70% water along with nourishing mango butter. It went on very lightweight and dried super fast so you do have to blend quick. Unlike the glittery or shimmery finish you get with certain luminizers, it added a natural, metallic sheen without looking or feeling greasy.

Uplight can also be applied to the skin on its own as a finishing touch or mixed into foundation and cream blush for an all-over radiant glow. I personally like to dab it on the eyelids, on top of the cheekbones, down the nose and right above the lip just like below.

Have you ever tried Bobbi Brown shimmerbrick? I’m trying to find something for hot, humid Miami weather, and while the Shimmerbrick is great, it’d be nice to have something long lasting. What do you recommend?

Yes I have tried the Shimmerbrick. If you want it to last longer, you can always apply a cream/liquid product underneath then top with the Shimmerbrick. It’s a trick sworn by many artists and it works 🙂
