A few months ago, I teamed up with celebrities Kathy Ireland, Bobbi Thomas and Chelsie Hightower, along with 8 other women across the country to serve as ambassadors for the Latisse Wishes Challenge.
Not only did we help raise over $400k for the Make-A-Wish Foundation to grant wishes for approximately 54 children, I walked away with some new, amazing lashes! Read on to see my Latisse before-and-after pictures and a brief review of the eyelash growth product.
The story behind Latisse is actually pretty interesting. It all started when Allergan developed a medicated eye drop used to treat ocular hypertension and noticed longer, lusher lashes as a common side effect among patients. Allergan then studied the active ingredient in the eye drop and after a clinical trial, Latisse became the first and only FDA-approved prescription eyelash growth product!
The Latisse solution comes in a small 3ml bottle with 60 applicators, which is good for a month. Although the bottle looks tiny, mine lasted a good 2+ months even with everyday use. The applicators are a little too big and stiff for my smaller eyes so I use a clean eyeliner brush instead.
Application is easy and totally no-mess. All you have to apply once a day by placing one drop of the solution on the applicator/brush then immediately drawing it along the base of your upper eyelashes. It takes less than a minute to do both eyes and even the biggest klutz will be able to get this right. If you wear contacts, you will also need to remove them prior to application (they can reinserted 15 minutes afterwards), so I usually apply Latisse right before bed.
As for the results (which I’m sure you are all VERY interested in), I started seeing a difference in just 4 weeks. By week 12, my lashes grew SO much longer and darker compliments were pouring in from EVERYWHERE – family, friends, makeup artists, guys, girls, even strangers! I finally felt comfortable in my own lashes and could achieve the effect of fake lashes with just a few coats of mascara! Need proof? Just check out these before-and-after pictures of my lashes without any mascara or makeup.

My lashes after using Latisse
Like all prescription drugs, Latisse does have side effects, which can include itchy eyes, eye redness, skin darkening, dryness of the eye and increased brown pigmentation on the iris. The only side effect I experienced was eye redness, which was pretty tolerable.
Another thing I noticed is if I stop using Latisse for a few weeks, my lashes will eventually go back to their original length. If you decide to try Latisse, be prepared to use it regularly or your growth may just be temporary.
The verdict? LOVE LOVE LOVE Latisse! The great results totally outweighed the side effects for me and I will definitely continue to use it!

I’ve been wanting to try Latisse for the longest time, your lashes look really good! I’m a little concerned about the eye-reddening thing though, my eyes get red pretty easily to begin with. Kudos to you for helping to raise that money 🙂
My eyes get red really easily too that’s probably why I was experiencing that side effect. I’d still do it regardless.
It makes a big difference. I see that it does make your eye lids red though. Are they itchy and irritating?
I have really thin skin around my eyes which is why my eyelids tends to look red (it has always been that way even before I used Latisse).
The only redness I noticed after I started using the product was in my eyes and not so much on my eyelid. And no Latisse didn’t make my eyelids itchy or irritated.
It’s true that Latisse definitely works!! It’s important to note, however, that while most of the side effects you listed are not permanent and will subside when you stop using the product (for instance, eyelid skin darkening), the increased brown pigmentation on the iris is NOT reversible. This may be something to keep in mind for those with lighter-colored eyes.
Holy moley! Nice before and after shots! I want to use Latisse so badly… but my mother doesn’t trust the generic Careprost version. Actually I’m not sure she even trusts Latisse LOL.
Wow, the results look great. I read that you need a doctor`s prescription? Do you know where you can buy Latisse?
Yes It’s true! Latisse won’let you down. Since it is FDA-approved prescription eyelash growth product! there is no worries. Just follow proper application and must know the do’s and don’ts.
