MAC mascaras have never really excited me but when I saw the new False Lashes Mascara, I could not resist!
The False Lashes Mascara first made its debut in the Marcel Wanders Collection. It comes in the prettiest glossy black tube with a sleek, structural design that fits surprisingly well on my hand.
There is only one shade available, False Black, which is your regular black and nothing super intense. The brush is a little on the big side and looks just like any other mascara wand with a tapered tip. Yet it works amazing well in separating and defining my lashes both on the top and bottom, without making a mess.
While the mascara promises to give the illusion of extensions with its ultra-thickening formula, I find it to deliver better in the lengthening and curling department. With 1 to 2 coats, my lashes looked instantly longer and more lifted but I did not see much of a difference in terms of volume.
The mascara dries fairly quickly and I love that it never clumps even when I pile on 4 to 5 coats. It also wears very well throughout the day without any flaking or smearing but comes off easily with remover.
Overall, this is a decent mascara if you are looking for length and wearability. However, you can definitely achieve similar results with cheaper drugstore brands. I would not have paid $18 for it if it wasn’t because of the pretty packaging.
The MAC False Lashes Mascara is now available at www.maccosmetics.com and Nordstrom for $18.
