October 28, 2009
Listen up CoverGirl fans! There will be a new collection featuring two new products – Smoky ShadowBlast and ShineBlast Lip Gloss – along with my favorite LashBlast Length Mascara, coming your way!

Developed by the awesome Pat McGrath , the Blast Collection will not hit drugstores until January 2010 but if you simply cannot wait (especially after you see pictures of the new eyeshadow below), I got the skinny on how to get your hands on them before anyone does!

Smoky ShadowBlast ($7.49)
Available in six coordinated shade duos with uniquely-designed ends, the Smoky ShadowBlast lets you create a traditional or colorful smoky eye in two easy steps. Use the rounded end as a base and the angled end for liner/crease and you are on your way to a smoky perfection.

From left to right: Citrus Flair, Tempest Blue, Onyx Smoke, Silver Sky, Bronze Fire and Purple Plum

ShineBlast Lipgloss ($7.49)
These glosses are your answer to diamond-like shine. They contain droplets of pearlized pigment to form a perfect amount of shimmer and a patented ShineSculpt applicator that is tapered to deliver more shine and precision.

Oooh… I actually dislike CoverGirl quite a bit since the quality is usually subpar, but that looks hot! I might have to try it out when it hits stores. 🙂

I would also like to see a review of the Smoky Shadowblast. I’ve been trying to stay away from Covergirl, with the exception of LashBlast mascara, but the packaging of the Smoking Shadowblast looks really great and the product itself looks really simple to use. I do wonder about the angled end after extensive use though. Won’t it eventually become too blunt?

All of the ShadowBlast and ShineBlast shades are already being sold here in Canada (at Real Canadian Superstore). How and why Canada got all of these earlier is totally beyond me!

They’re also available at Shopper’s Drug Mart in Canada for $8.50…Canada is regularly used as a test market before a launch in the US.

I have tried it being as i live in Canada and i love it. Looks great, so easy, lasts long. But yes, the precision liner/crease end does become blunt after a while. You could probably get away with applying the product with a cream shadow brush from the stick though.

This product is a sad disappointment. I bought the Purple Plum – The pink is quite sheer despite looking a bit bright and the colour actually looks quite pretty on. I was able to get the smokey look after applying the darker shade in the crease of my lid and along my upper lash line and blending with a brush. The problem with the product is that it really isn’t long lasting at all, even with different base products, and the darker shade creases very quickly, which really ruins the effect. I definitely won’t be buying this product again.
