MAC Style Black Collection Eye Products Reviews

September 24, 2009

The two Cream Colour Bases ($16.50) featured in this collection are both great for creating a smoky eye. Black is a creamy black and makes a fool-proof base color for any smoky eye look. Bat Black is a deep burgundy color with sparkles from the permanent Pro line and it is *hot*! Just like all CCBs, the texture of these CCBs is super creamy and does have a tendency to crease and migrate on oily skin. I only recommend using these as a base for powder eyeshadow.

The Mineralize Eye Shadows ($19) are all really pretty and remind me so much of the Night Series eyeshadows from NARS. Cinderfella is a frosty silver black color. Young Punk is a black with magenta sparkles and probably the most unique in the collection. Gilt by Association is a golden olive black and has the best pigmentation out of the four. Blue Flame is a midnight blue that reminds me of MAC Blue Flame Eyeshadow that was limited edition. Like all Mineralize Eyeshadows, the color payoff is not the best when applied dry. Fallouts can be another problem. They are best when used wet or packed on top of a creamy base.

The Greasepaint Stick in Black ($17.50) is a new product from MAC and definitely one of the must-haves from this collection! It is a crayon that comes in twist-up design and the color is a gorgeous black with blue sparkles. It also goes on very smooth and super pigmented. The tip looks slightly too big to be used as an eyeliner (unless you are going for a thicker line) but as a base for powder eyeshadow, especially the Mineralize Eyeshadows in the collection, this is perfect (check this for proof)! Plus once it dries off, it will not budge. I cannot wait to do a smoky eye with this!

More reviews, swatches and my haul.

There is a sharpener at the end of the greasepaint stick! 🙂
