FOTD: MAC Style Warrior Gold Rebel Yellow + Purple Eye Makeup Look

May 26, 2009

Here is a makeup look I did from the MAC Style Warrior Collection. Dubbed Gold Rebel, this look consisted of pairing yellow eyeshadow with purple (yes a contrasting color!) and a nude lip.

MAC Style Warrior Bright Future Vibrant Grape eyeshadows

What I Used

* MAC Mineralize Satinfinish in NC25 under the eyes and around the nose
* Anastasia Highlighting Brow Kit to fill in eyebrows
* Lumene Eye Makeup Base as a primer
* MAC Bright Future Eyeshadow on the eyelid
* MAC Vibrant Grape on crease and lower eye
* MAC Fluidline in Blacktrack to line
* Taiwanese False Lashes on top
* L’oreal Clean Definition Telescopic Mascara in Black on lower lashes
* MAC Beauty Powder Blush in True Romantic along cheekbones
* NARS All About Eve Eyeshadow Duo to highlight brow bone and bridge of nose
* MAC Brave New Bronze Lipstick on lips

How To Duplicate The Look With MAC Products

Eyes
Define and groom brows with Fling Eye Brows and Clear Brow Set. Use 275 Small Angled Brush to blend Bright Future Eye Shadow under brows for a soft highlight. Blend Bright Future and Vibrant Grape Eye Shadows to the outer corner of the lid using a 213 Fluff Brush. Add depth to the crease of the eye by using Vibrant Grape Eye Shadow and a 213 Fluff Brush. With a 228 Mini Shader Brush line the whole lower lashline using Vibrant Grape Eye Shadow. Prep lashes with Prep + Prime Lash followed by Coal Black Pro Lash.

Cheeks
Colour cheeks with Eversun Beauty Powder Blush.

Lips
Line the outer lips with Summerfruit Cremestick Liner. Fill in with Brave New Bronze Lipstick using a 316 Lip Brush. Top off look with Gold Rebel Lipglass.

Phyllis, you look staggeringly gorgeous in the first picture! And I can’t get over your eyebrows–I think I have to go grab the Anastasia kit now. Does the kit help to make your eyebrows look thicker? I’m worried if I fill mine in with the kit it will look dark and unnatural.

wow, that is absolutely gorgeous. I think this is one of the best looks you’ve had. I usually don’t wear much eye makeup…but I think I might try to do this look now.

    Jenny,

Eyebrow pencils are more precise but if you want a natural look, powder is the way to go.

The Anastasia Brow Kit comes with 3 eyebrow powder shades so if the color I use (the darkest one) is too dark for you, the other one would work.

    MeiLing,

I got the lashes from Asia. They are made in Taiwan and not sold in the US.

hey phyllis, i always wanted to ask, what did you put under your eyes beside powder foundation, is it a eye primer? mine look dry n wrinkles more obvious using powder foundation only under eyes.

    Jasmine,

I didn’t use powder foundation on the undereye area. The MAC Mineralize Satinfinish is a liquid foundation with a very creamy texture.

    hi!!

i was looking around in the web for some ideas for my bridal make-up and then i found your site!! i really love your blog!! you’re doing a great job!! since i really love the style you show here, i wanted to ask you if you would recommend this colors as a bridal make-up? or do you think it would be to strong or harsh?? i don’t want to look over-colored as a bride but i dont want to look boring either.. so its a little dilemma at this point.. it would be great if you could tell me what you think.. thanks a lot!

    Thanks Bee =)

If you are going to wear a white gown, I would not recommend using yellow and purple (it just doesn’t go together). But if you are wearing a gown in a different color, you can definitely go for brighter colors.
