Packed with super short dresses, jackets and pants decorated with sequins, studs and crystals in of shades of gunmetal, black and midnight blue, Balmain’s A/W 2009 collection is definitely not for the faint-hearted.
Makeup artist Tom Pecheux used MAC cosmetics to create a relatively paired down look to go with the collection. “We’re not playing around too much, just giving the models a touch of sparkle in very light doses,” said Pecheux. The eyelids and brows were dabbed with a new gray-black lip gloss called Bling Black (to be released later this year) while a black liner rimmed the lash lines and a light coat of black mascara was applied on the lashes. The lips were kept moist with a nude gloss while the cheekbones were highlighted with minimal amount of color.
Hairstylist Sam McKnight gave the models straight hair with a deep side part for a “modern, disheveled and cool” look. He blow-dried the hair straight before adding Pantene hair spray and Fekkai Coiff Bouffant Lifting & Texturizing Spray Gel and sealing the ends with serum.
