A/W 2009 Runway Eye Makeup Alert: White

March 12, 2009

Believe it or not but white used on the lower eye is one of the latest trend spotted at Paris Fashion week. Just check out the models at the Giambattista Valli A/W 2009 show, the white shadow worn on the lower eye instantly gave their eyes a lift.

To dupe the look, apply a matte white eyeshadow (MAC Gesso) heavily on the lower eye and MAC Blue Brown Pigment and MAC Taupe Eye Pencil on the upper eye, dragging the color outwards.

The look at the Veronique Branquinho A/W 2009 show was pale and almost ethereal. The models were seen with “furry lashes” on the under eye, which was created with MAC White Mascara, Chromaline in Pure White and Porcelain Setting Powder – all from the Pro line. MAC Pro Iridescent Powder in Silver Dusk was also used on the rest of the face to create a luminous glow.

Beauty Tip: Unless you have pale skin, wearing a lot of white on the under eye can look ashy and unnatural. Dark-skinned beauties should stick to a light beige for a similar effect.

I am not feeling the white eyeshadow underneath the eyes on the models in the first set of pictures. I feel it accentuates bags under the eyes, making them look tired. The trend looks better (more fresh) in the second set of pics (Branquinho).
