Shills Super Magic BB Cream (Cherry Blossom Edition) Review and Swatches

December 24, 2008

You all know how much I *loved* my Skin Food Mushroom BB cream but lately, I can’t seem to get my hands off my new Shills Super Magic BB Cream (Cherry Blossom edition).

Unlike most BB creams, the Shills Super Magic BB Cream (Cherry Blossom edition) is a 6-in-1 BB cream that is made in Taiwan. It offers protection against free radicals, evens out skin tone, brightens the skin, controls oil, moisturizes and conceals. It is also one of the best selling BB creams in Asia and is always featured in super popular TV show 女人我最大.

The Shill BB cream comes in a 50ml tube and the main ingredients are Gingko, Green Tea and Vitamin C. Like the Skin Food BB creams, you can use it alone for an au naturale look or underneath foundation if you require more coverage.

Texture-wise, the Shills BB cream is thinner and more hydrating. It feels less sticky and I find it to blend even better. The coverage is light to medium and it evens out my skin nicely while keeping it looking natural. Whenever I wear this, I only get compliments on my skin and not what I am wearing.

The only cons I have found so far are the lack of SPF and the limited color selection. Unlike the regular Shills Super Magic BB cream, the Cherry Blossom edition does not contain any SPF. The BB cream also comes in only one shade that is more yellow and lighter than the Skin Food BB cream shade #2 that I use. The good news, however, is it contains very fine shimmer that creates an instant brightening effect to perk up dull skin. It also wears really well throughout the day and I never have to set it or touch up with power.

Overall, this is the perfect BB cream for the winter and I am very pleased with it. I will definitely continue using this.

Do you use a primer before putting on BB cream?

  • Reply Elle December 25, 2008 at 12:54 pm

Where did you get this? I want to get BB creams, but living in London makes it almost impossible for me! Where do you get your BB creams? Thanks! 🙂

Hehe… I’d like to know where to buy this in the US also.

Can you do a batch order for this? I am very interested.

  • Reply Xiao Ying December 25, 2008 at 3:53 pm

Are there more differences between the regular Shills BB Cream and the Cherry Blossom edition besides the SPF? I found the regular one but no cherry blossom one on eBay 🙁

  • Reply Xiao Ying December 25, 2008 at 3:55 pm

I take that back, I did find the Cherry Blossom one, but it would still be great if you could tell us if there are other differences! Thanks!

Have you ever used any other BB cream brands? Like Hanskin, Skin79, Missha, EtudeHouse? If so, what are your comments on them?

I recently tried Hanskin Premium Magic BB & Water Action BB. I love the Water Action one. Very moisturize and easy to blend. Also, it really reduced my oil (i have acne pore & oily skin). It even out my skintone. Of cos, as for coverage, it’s not enough for me since I have acne scars. The premium magic one offers much more coverage and whitening; yet, it’s harder to blend and it feels sticky…n a bit oily. I can feel it on my face the rest of the day unlike the water action one which I do not feel like i’ve put on anything.

I would love to hear your feedback on these brands I’ve mentioned. =) please let me know if you’ve tried them before!

Like the Skin Food BB creams, this is not available in stores in the US. If you ladies are interested, I can make arrangements to do a custom purchase.

  • Reply Phyllis December 26, 2008 at 11:08 am

Unlike the regular Shills Super Magic BB cream, the Cherry Blossom one does not contain SPF but it is more hydrating and better for winter weather.

  • Reply kim December 26, 2008 at 1:03 pm

what type of moisturizer would you recommended for dry and oily face. My face often get dry on my cheeks and oily on my forehead. Since you are an expert and i have never wore makeup or anything on my face before, i would like to hear your feedback. I don’t want to buy an expensive one but if it really work for my face then I would go for it.

I would love to try BB cream, but wish they didn’t come in such limited shades. (sigh)
I’ve read reviews that say the these creams sort of ‘blend in’ with your skin tone after awhile, but since my skin is naturally light tan – I’m afraid I’ll look paste-y and will look like I’ve made a drastic mistake in foundation color choice.

thanks for the review Phyllis. And, do you find this bbcream a better match than skinfood because it’s more yellow?

Hi, does this BB cream only come in one color?

  • Reply SUE~~~ January 4, 2009 at 1:03 pm

Hi,,i live in the netherlands and im realy interested,, would be really great if you do a custom purchase for this!
The color is just the right color ive been looking for! My current foundation color looks similar to the skinfood one you pictured above,, and its a tiny bit too dark, i think the shills one would be a oke for me..

  • Reply wendy January 6, 2009 at 6:22 pm

I’m really interested in this product. I do hope you do a custom order, for I’m also running out of my other BB creams.

  • Reply jayvian January 11, 2009 at 8:54 am

Oh btw.. I tried the Skin79 bb cream before. The pink colour ones. It’s quite nice to be used just that the price of it is relatively high compared to the Shills’s brand. =) And, I do not use a primer before I use the bb creams cuz it already contains it. However, I make it a point to use powder to do a light coverage after I applied the BB cream cuz I find that the effect of that would be much better than not using powder.

P.s – I was only dropping by to share some views and ideas, no offence to anyone. =)

    Thanks so much!

Hey Phyllis, are you still doing custom purchases for the skin food mushroom bb cream? 🙂

  • Reply katie February 28, 2009 at 4:29 am

🙂 hello super gorgeous phyllis!! I ordered the skinfood mushroom bb cream from you a while back (which I LOVE btw) and now I see u recommending this! How is the shills bb cream compared to the mushroom bb cream coverage wise? Are they pretty much the same coverage or is the mushroom one more concealing and thicker? 🙂 I love your site and your looks!! Hope to hear from you soon! Oh and how much is this bb cream?

  • Reply Ywong March 4, 2009 at 5:37 pm
