Fall 2008 Runway Makeup Trends

14 May 2008

Here are some of the trends spotted on the Fall 2008 runway shows. Any thoughts?

* Strong Brows
Ladies, brows are back this fall! Models at the Prada and Fendi shows strutted their stuff in tied-back hair with thick, perfectly arched brows and nude pink lips. To copy the look, simply lay off the tweezing and start growing your brows. If you are one of those who do not have a lot to work with, fill in your eyebrows with a pencil then run a matching eyebrow powder over it and seal the look with a clear eyebrow gel.

* Grey Smoky Eyes
Fall is never quite fall without grey smoky eyes. The look is spotted all over Gucci and Lanvin and it has never looked better. To wear the look at Gucci, apply a shimmery charcoal eyeshadow all over your eyelid and blend a brown eyeshadow on your crease.

For something a little more dramatic as seen on the models at Lanvin, apply a gunmetal cream eyeshadow all over and highlight the inner corners with a shimmery silver eyeshadow.

* Gold Eyeshadow
Appearing on and off on the runway, gold eyeshadow is back again this fall. To copy the look spotted at Chanel, try using a neutral cream eyeshadow as a base before patting on a cool-toned gold color like MAC’s Golden Lemon pigment from your lashline all the way up to your eye brow bone. Next, blend a tarnished gold color like MAC’s Old Gold pigment on your outer corners and extend them onto the end of your eyebrows. Since the eyes have it all in this look, finish with barely there lips and blush.

Chanel

For a more sophisticated and wearable look at Dolce & Gabbana by rimming your eyes with a tan gold like MAC’s Gold Mode pigment and pairing it with crimson lips.

*Lash Galore
Models sizzled in teased hair, candy colored eyes with tons and tons of false lashes and uber bright nails at Dior’s show. To copy the look, use a matte white eyeshadow on your entire eyelid and lower eye. Color in your crease with candy colors like orange, hot pink and aqua. Highlight your brow bone with the same white eyeshadow and apply falsies on both top and bottom. With eye makeup this crazy, keep the rest of your face simple with foundation and nude lips.

    Well as we all know, the fashion shows are always at least a season or two ahead (these looks actually came out a few months ago).

    those brows make me want to yank out my tweezers! sorry, but they look scary and unnatural…

    Hi Phyllis!
    Do you think you could show us a look using dark red(s) eyeshadow? I’m going to a formal event and my gown is something of a dark red wine-ish color. The dress also has roses on it and there’s also some gold to it. I can’t seem to picture what look would be appropriate. What would you suggest?

    I don’t agree with the thick eyebrows =T

    I normally find the makeup on runway models to be too much… I’d look washed out if I used that much gold eyeshadow.

    i love most of them, besides the brows. i really don’t think i could pull off thick brows lol though i think on the right frame of face one could.

    Trami, are you wearing the right shade? The BB creams tend to run light so picking the right color is crucial.

    Another reason why your face came out white could be that the BB cream has spf in it.
