Skinfood Gingko Green BB Cream Review

January 2, 2008

I am *so* glad I jumped onto the BB cream bandwagon! This is definitely one of my favorite products in 2007!

The Skinfood Gingko Green BB cream, one out of the three BB creams Korean beauty brand Skinfood makes, contains Green Tea, Gingko Leaf, Vitamin B and Lecithin to provide both skin protection and skin correction. Basically, what that means is it has the properties of both a makeup and a skincare product. It can even out skin tone, camouflage undereye circles, acne scars and add radiance to the skin without the heavy mask-like effects of a foundation. Prolonged use of the product will also help improve the overall texture of the skin and fade scars caused by acne.

The product is suitable for all skin types and did not feel dry nor greasy on my dehydrated combination skin at all. Texture-wise, it was not thick like a cream foundation nor runny like a liquid foundation. The consistency reminded me of a tinted moisturizer and once blended, felt super lightweight on the skin. I use this on top of my Murad sunscreen and set with a thin layer of my MAC Sheer Select Pressed Powder and I am good for the whole day.

As for the coverage, it was definitely on the sheer side but still helped to even out my skin. Almost half of my redness and undereye circles were gone with a dime-sized amount. My freckles would still show through but that is totally fine with me.

The only thing I did not like was the limited color range. There are only two colors to choose from and they both tend to be on the light side. #1 is the lightest shade and great for a brightening effect or those with pale skin. #2 is slightly darker and would work for light to medium skin. I wear MAC NC30 and use #2.

All in all, I really liked Skinfood Gingko Green BB cream and think it is worth the hype (now I just want to get my hands on the other two BB creams!) I highly recommend it to those looking for a product to just even out their skin or perk up a dull complexion. If you want more coverage though, please just stick to foundation and concealer.

Hi Phyllis, I just bought my BB cream today.(Thanks for the tip,by the way.) So far, I think it’s good in evening out my skin tone. There was something the attending saleslady said about putting too much of it that turns my makeup “black” or dark.Did you happen to experience something like that?

Clare, I have not experienced nor heard anything like that. Like I said in my post, I usually just use a dime size amount.

I was wondering how to get the cream. Sounds really good. I’m in the USA and this is my first time hearing about it at all. How much would it cost? Can it be shipped to my location in PA?
