MAC Sundressing Collection Reviews and Photos

May 5, 2006

The Pigments ($19.50) in this collection are both GORGEOUS and the picture below does not do justice of them at all! Described as a “light yellow gold”, Gold Dusk Pigment is a shimmery soft buttery yellow. The texture is very smooth and highly blendable. I have not tested this on my eyes but it would look really pretty as highlighter or as a wash.

If you like blue, you HAVE to get Softwash Grey Pigment! The color looks really dark and intense in the picture. However, in person, it is nothing like that. Described as a “grey with purple pearl”, this looks like Blue Storm and Cornflower mixed together. The color is gorgeous and it blends effortlessly.

The Beauty Powders ($20) were really pretty and I was a little tempted to get them. Shell Pearl on the right is a fresh mid-tone peach with gold pearl which looks kind of similar to NARS Orgasm blush that I already own. Sunsparked Pearl on the left is a bright sunny beige with gold pearl which would look great as a highlighter. I swiped both of them onto the back of my hand and they are both pretty pigmented with the right amount of shimmer. Get these if you don’t have similar shades!

Surprisingly, I passed on all the Eyeshadows ($13.50) this time. The colors are pretty, especially Fountainbleu, Summer Neutral and In Living Pink. However, none of them are that different from most of the colors I already own. As for the textures, Summer Neutral, In Living Pink and Relaxing are the most blendable and pigmented. Fountainbleu, though really pretty, barely showed up when I tested it on the back of my hand.

As for the Lipglass ($14), they come in really yummy colors and have the perfect texture – it is a little tacky but the color doesn’t disappear in 10 minutes like some glosses do. The colors in this collection are all really pretty. If I had to pick one color, it would be Glamoursun.

The only Lipsticks ($14) that caught my eye were Apres Sol and Pink Cabana. Pink Cabana is a frosty medium pink/coral; Apres Sol is a metallicy tanned gold which would look so hot for the summer.

Finally, the Powerpoint Pencils ($13.50) did not stand out as much to me as the pigments. The colors are a bright blue and a boring brown. I did not even swatch them.

    hey, first I gotta say I love love your blog! Awesome job. Anyway…I’m very tempted to get Pop Iris Liquidlast liner buut…I just bought Macroviolet (yes silly me!). Is there any chance you can do a swatch of Pop Iris, and do I need both??

    thanks

    thanks =)

    Pop Iris and Macroviolet are pretty different – Macroviolet is more plummy and Pop Iris is more of a bright violet. I used Pop Iris with Gold Dusk pigment today so I can take a picture and post it in a bit.

    can you please tell me if i can JUST use a tinted moisturizer, or do i need to have a regular moisturizer and then use the tinted moisturizer?

    well tinted moisturizers are basically moisturizers with a tint (color) and they are usually moisturizing enough on its own. so unless your skin is really really dry, you don’t need a moisturizer underneath.

    everyone’s skin is different. what works on one person might not necessarily work on another so sometimes it does take trial and error to find out what works best for you. I personally love trying out new stuff and if I were you, I would definitely try out the samples – just make sure they are suitable for your skin type.

    Hi! Brilliant blog, I’m a daily lurker 🙂 Could you possibly do a close-up pic of your eye how the MA did it – with the pop iris in the inner corners and the black in the centre-outer? I’m having a few problems picturing it, though it sounds great!

    IMO, fluidlines and liquidlast liners are two very different products. The former has a more solid texture and can be smudged to give a smoky effect while the latter is more liquid and barely budges. They are both great liners though, it really depends on what look you are going for.

    As for that picture of Adriana, I would suggest using the fluidline since the effect that the liquidlast liner gives may be a little too harsh.
