Mascara is the one of the many things I can’t live without (a girl can always have more right?!) and lately, I have been loving Maybelline Volum’ Express Falsies Big Eyes Mascara, a dual-ended product that promises 360° all around lash glam.
The mascara comes with 2 brushes for both upper and lower lashes, and touts a special quick-dry formula that holds lashes in place. There are 3 shades available – Blackest Black (featured in this review), Very Black and Brownish Black – as well as a waterproof version.
The Upper Brush is your basic, average-sized spiral wand. While it did not look fancy like other ones you see on the market, it served its purpose and really helped lift and fan out my lashes. The Micro-brush on the other hand, is long, thin and much smaller. I loved that it reached my inner corners and lower lashes easily, even those tiny little ones I didn’t know existed, and without smearing.
The formula felt just right and was neither too wet nor dry. It did not clump much and dried off swiftly without leaving my lashes brittle or stiff. My lashes looked instantly darker, thicker and lifted, just like the effect I get with Make Up For Ever Smoky Extravagant Mascara. The wear was also great. Although I had the non-waterproof version, the mascara managed to stay on 9-10 hours without flakes or smudges, yet washed off easily with warm water.
I did, however, noticed that the formula seemed to thicken much faster than other mascaras. I started seeing clumps on the wand only after 2 weeks, which means I will most likely have to replace this sooner than the usual 3 months.
Maybelline Volum’ Express Falsies Big Eyes Mascara is available at Walmart.com and drugstores nationwide for $9.49.
