Estee Lauder Pure Color Gloss Stick Review and Swatches

July 26, 2010

With the Fall 2010 Blue Dahlia collection, Estee Lauder brings us 4 new, gorgeous shades of Pure Color Gloss Sticks.

I have Orchid Dream, a gorgeous, limited-edition magenta color with tiny blue shimmer.

It has the coolest texture I have ever seen. It feels really wet and almost jelly-like (now I understand why it’s called a gloss stick). All I have to do is gently dab it onto my lips and it gives this really pretty, shiny look with intense color.

As for the lasting power, it is not as good as the Kanebo Sensai Lasting Treatment Rouge I recently reviewed but still managed to survive a drink or two.

The gloss stick is also supposed to plump up your lips and increase fullness after 4 weeks of continuous use. I have only been wearing this for a few days but I do see an instant plumping effect. It also keeps my lips super moisturized and I never have to use a lip balm underneath it. Must get more colors!

GORGEOUS! Wow, I must check this out. The color is so beautiful, and like someone said above, it looks like lipgloss on top. Thanks for sharing 🙂

Hmmm that’s a tough one Angie. They are both great and it all depends on what look you are going for.

The Kanebo Sensai is definitely better as a lipstick (it has better pigmentation and lasts longer) but I also really liked the glossy, plumped-up look and the tiny shimmer I get from the Estee Lauder.

If I really had to just pick one, I’d probably go for the EL because it’s more affordable and I prefer the look of gloss over lipstick.
