Lime Crime Candyfuture Lipstick Review and Swatches

October 22, 2009

Some of you might already have heard of Lime Crime Cosmetics, a makeup line created by internet celebrity, Doe Deere. And in LC’s latest Candyfuture Lipstick collection, Doe brought us 10 uber bright lipsticks from the cutest barbie pink to the unexpected lilac and baby blue.

I was very lucky to be sent a sample of Retrofuturist, a bright pin-up red. The color is *gorgeous* and so opaque it shows up exactly like what you see in the tube. It also goes on very creamy without drying the lips. Plus how can we not love the purple tube with the sparkling silver unicorn and stars?

The Candyfuture Lipstick will be available at www.limecrimemakeup.com.

I love that ad campaign! My favourite colours areGreat Pink Planet, Countessa Fluorescent, Centrifuchsia, D’Lilac, Airborne Unicorn. The packaging is to die for! It reminds me of MAC Heatherette collection only cuter!

Please be careful with this brand.

    Google ‘Lime Crime rip-off’.
She’s a proven repackager of eyeshadow (buying it for $4 per ounce from TKB and reselling it in pretty packaging for over $168 per ounce) she’s had bad reviews deleted from newspapers, closes down entire comment sections, stages photos of ‘labs’, claims to make her lipstick from scratch, fakes charities to con people out of money and intimidates customers who complain.

If those lipsticks are what I think they are (i.e repackaged Stargazer) then they should cost about $4 not the insane amount she’s charging.

I don’t believe at all that Xenia repackages her lovely makeup! She’s made a video showing how she makes her eye shadows, and she’s explained how the lipstick is made as well. I think this is an unprecedented amount of transparency for a cosmetic company. Find me another shadow that looks strikingly similar to “Dragon Scales” and then I might give these rumors some credit. I think that the people saying these things are either honestly mistaken or have malicious intent from the get-go.

Shadows that look like Dragon Scale by Lime Crime? Easy. Here’s the list.

Mac – Club, Loreal Hip – Intrepid, Two-Faced – Label Whore, Inglot 414 and 418, as well as shades from Wet and Wild and Lorac. Look them up.

‘Unprecedented amount of transparency’. That’s exactly what Doe Deere said in her video. Nice parroting.

Google ‘lime crime repackaging’, sweetie. There is a plethora of evidence – from former fans of Ms Deere no less – proving the repackaging allegations.

But hey, if you want to overspend on repackaged makeup, go right ahead.

Haha I guess she did say that in her video. Oops!

I’ve been looking around some and I’m definitely a bit skeptical about Xenia’s makeup now. Too many people have bad things to say – and she’s a bit too determined too silence them.

That said, I think it was a bit out of bounds for you to be so condescending. I never personally insulted you, Jane. I don’t understand why you would speak to a stranger that way. =(

    That’s pretty damn rude Jane!
Everyone’s entitled to their opinion, you can’t force what you believe on others.
Also Xenia is not a ‘proven’ repackager. She has been accused, and is innocent until proven guilty. Everyone sees colour differently, and just because some of her magic dust colours look similar to those of TKB, that’s not enough solid evidence to label her as a ‘proven repackager.’

Also MAC has a pigment that is similar to dragon scales, I can’t remember the name~

I just got Countessa Flourescent and Great Pink Planet in the mail and I am thrilled by them. They are exactly like tube color when applied, nice smooth, creamy finish without being dry, well on me anyways.

I know the company has been questioned in the past about their eye dusts but in reality, how many pigments are there in the world? Of COURSE they are going to look similar. I’m just really in awe of how far some people would go to degrade a company. Like get a job or something and stop hating and be the bigger person perhaps?

That’s another story but I am not disappointed in the lippies. I feel as long as you feel good in what you wear, you shouldn’t have to worry or be scrutinized. Your money, your face, your business.

Swatches might not look like much, but if you’re interested in testing the theory for yourself, pick some up and check it out.)

I also love counting the number of identical sets of lips in the swatches above. Yeah, those are real.

All that said, the red looks fantastic on you, though.
