Fall 2008 Haute Couture Makeup Trend – Graphic Eyeliner

July 20, 2008

Fresh off the Fall 2008 Couture fashion shows, we are seeing graphic eyeliner everywhere – thick and winged out, on the crease and even under the eye. The look is young, bold and totally now so if you have not mastered the art of lining, you better dig out your eyeliner and start practicing pronto!

Jean Paul Gaultier
This reminds me of a look I did that was inspired by an Accessorize ad with super model Lily Cole. The trick is start out by drawing a line on your crease with a pencil before going over it with a black liquid liner. Keep the rest of your eye bare with just a thin line along your upper lash line and tons of mascara on top and bottom.

Christian Dior
This look is all about pretty pastels and winged eyeliner. Smear your favorite pastel eyeshadow from your lash line all the way past your crease, depositing more color on the lid. Next, rest your elbow on a flat surface and start lining your eyes from the middle of the eye. Line towards the outer corner and extend the line past the outer corner. Wing it upwards. Go back to the inner corner and line until it meets the middle.

Christian Lacroix
This look is a more advanced version of the look spotted at Jean Paul Gaultier. Hot teal eyeshadow is smudged around the eyes with graphic lines drawn on the crease and under the eye and smoked out with a gunmetal eyeshadow. Not your everyday look for work or school but hot nonetheless.

The last one reminds me of Kabuki makeup. Interesting!

Oohh,.I love the Christian Dior look! It is a very feminine and soft look with the pastel shadow, but also a bit catty with the Audrey Hepburn eyes. I love it! I wonder what pastel color would rock with bluish green eyes??

I love the bold looks! I think the biggest tip is to get a liner that works for you…I love fluidline, but am curious about the liquid last liner…how does it compare?

I never in a million years would have thought about putting eyeliner in the crease of the eyelid. On me it would probably melt within an hour but I love the way the technique makes the eyes “pop”

That is definitely an interesting look, but oh no, the bangs are scaring me.
Cute new pic with your kitty. I just delivered 4 kittens last night, and 2 are orange like yours. I’ll post about it later.

Wow i loved that look you did so long ago. I liked how your line followed the contour of your eyes.

Just a question: when you did that look, did you follow your real crease? Because it seems as if your crease is even higher than some of the other models.

Would it look weird if this look was tried on someone with a smaller crease? as the crease line would be too close to the lash line?

OMG!! I have worked in the cosmetic/skincare industry for over 14 yrs and for them to suggest this is the new fashion look for girls to wear there makeup is ridiculous! Isn’t it bad enough they have our younger girls dressing have the time like hookers, that now they have a trend for there makeup to look like drag queens or worse!(drag queens apply it better).PLEASE come up with some better DAILY makeip trends for the girls of 2008 to wear that will make them look just like that..girls!/Young ladies..the Vogue/halloween look has to go!
