Urban Decay Naked 2 Palette Face Of The Day

Over the weekend, I finally got to play with my new Urban Decay Naked 2 palette. Since there are more cool-toned colors in this one, I opted for a soft, smoky look with gray and brown.

What I Used

* Koh Gen Do Maifanshi Moisture Foundation in #113
* MAC Mineralize Skinfinish Natural in Medium Plus
* Senna Form A Brow Eyebrow Stencil Kit in Neutral
* NARS Pro-Prime Smudge Proof Eyeshadow Base
* Urban Decay Pistol Eyeshadow from Naked 2 Palette
* Urban Decay Verve Eyeshadow from Naked 2 Palette
* Urban Decay Busted Eyeshadow from Naked 2 Palette
* Urban Decay Blackout Eyeshadow from Naked 2 Palette
* Urban Decay Bootycall Eyeshadow from Naked 2 Palette
* Estee Lauder Sumptuous Extreme Lash Multiplying Volume Mascara in Extreme Black
* Jealousness Fake Lashes in Bewitched JS-507
* NARS Highlighting Blush in Albatross

Step by Step

Step 1. Even out the skin with Koh Gen Do Maifanshi Moisture Foundation. Set oily areas with Mineralize Skinfinish.

Step 2. Fill in the eyebrows with matching brow powder and prep the eye area with NARS Pro-Prime Smudge Proof Eyeshadow Base.

Step 3. Using the Good Karma Shadow Brush, pat Pistol eyeshadow onto the eyelid.

Step 4. Darken the outer v with Busted eyeshadow.

Step 5. Blend with Good Karma Crease Brush.

Step 6. Draw a thick line along the upper lashes with Blackout eyeshadow. Wet the brush for more intensity.

Step 7. Pat Verve on the inner corner to make the eyes pop.

Step 8. Sweep Bootycall eyeshadow under the brow bone.

Step 9. Curl lashes before applying mascara. Add fake lashes as desired.

Step 10. Smile big and sweep Hervana Face Powder onto cheekbones.

Step 11. Apply Albatross down the nose to make it appear taller.

Step 12. Finish with Naked Lip Junkie Lipgloss.

Urban Decay Naked 2 Palette Review, Swatches and Photos

Combining 12 neutral shadows with a dual-ended shadow/crease brush and lip gloss, Urban Decay Naked 2 Palette is a great sequel to the original Naked palette.

Urban Decay Naked 2 Palette
Unlike Naked 1, Naked 2 comes in a taupe metal case that shuts tight with a hinge. The case measures 8 inches by 2.75 inches, which is the same size.

For the eyeshadows, we have 3 matte and 9 shimmery/metallic colors. Most applied smoothly with great pigmentation, except the mattes, which tend to require a bit of layering.

* Foxy is a creamy light yellow with matte finish. It is a repromote and not available individually. It barely shows up on my NC30 skin and would most likely work as a base color for light to medium skintones.
* Half Baked is a shimmery golden copper from the permanent line and a repeat from the original Naked palette.
* Bootycall is a new, shimmery light beige. It is a warmer version of Virgin from Naked and similar to MAC Shroom.
* Chopper is metallic copper with very fine silver glitter. It is an existing shade and a warmer, orange version of Sidecar from Naked 1.
* Tease is a creamy pale brown with matte finish. It is a new color and similar to Buck from Naked 1, only more cool-toned.
* Snakebite is a new, metallic dark bronze. It looks like a mixture of Smog and Darkhorse from Naked 1.
* Suspect is a shimmery light golden beige that has been discontinued.
* Pistol is a shimmery light gray-brown. It is a new color and reminds me of MAC Smoke & Diamonds.
* Verve is a frosty pink-tinted gray-white. It was in the Urban Decay Rollergirl Palette and is not available individually.
* YDK is a metallic cool bronze from the permanent line.
* Busted a shimmery cool dark brown color that is new.
* Blackout is an intense matte black. It is not available individually but has appeared in the Urban Decay 15th Anniversary Eyeshadow Palette.

Besides the shadows, there is a a travel-size Lip Junkie Lipgloss in Naked and a double-ended Good Karma Shadow/Crease Brush. Personally, I don’t care much for the gloss. While it is non-sticky with a minty smelly, it shows up almost clear with very tiny shimmer. The eyeshadow brush though, is awesome. It is full-sized and works perfectly with the shadows.

Overall, Naked 2 is a great buy. The shades are wearable with good quality and the value is just unbeatable (you pay $50 for $234 worth of products). If you have the original Naked palette, I’d suggest you check this out before you purchase. Some of the colors are similar but not completely substitutable. See the comparison here!

Product Faceoff: Urban Decay Naked vs Naked 2 Eyeshadow Palette

The much anticipated Urban Decay Naked 2 Palette has finally landed on my doorstep! Read on to see a quick comparison of it with the original Naked Palette.

* Packaging. Both palettes measure the same size (8 inches by 2.75 inches) and have the words Naked Urban Decay embossed on it. The original Naked palette comes in a soft, chocolate brown velvet case while Naked 2 is packaged in a hard, taupe metal case with a hinge. I definitely prefer the latter as it feels sturdier and is much easier to clean. Not to mention the mirror in the second palette is bigger, which is always a plus. Naked 2 wins!

* Colors. Each palette contains 12 gorgeous shades that range from pale to deep, matte to sparkly. Initially, I was a little worried that the colors would be too similar but they turned out to be quite different. Naked comes with mostly warm bronze and cocoa neutrals whereas Naked 2 has cooler taupe and greige neutrals. Half Baked – one of my favorite shades – is the only repeat. We have a tie!

* Extras. The Naked palette I have is from the very first batch and comes with a travel-size Eyeshadow Primer Potion along with a dual-ended, 24/7 Glide-on Eye Pencil in Zero and Whiskey. Naked 2, on the other hand, features a travel-size Lip Junkie Lipgloss in Naked and a double-ended Good Karma Shadow/Crease Brush. While I like the brush from Naked 2 a lot, a primer is a better choice to go with an eyeshadow palette. Another Tie!

* Price. While the palettes are a great deal for what you are getting, Naked beats Naked 2 hands-down when it comes to the price. The new palette is priced at $50, which is $5 more than the original.

Verdict? Both palettes have its advantages over the other and are not exactly substitutable (get both!) What do you guys think? Do you like Naked or Naked 2 more?
