Stila Cosmetics Makeup Reviews, Swatches and Product News

Stila’s new Lip Enamel Luxe Gloss, one of the most buzzed-about products at the Barbie Runway Show at New York Fashion Week Fall 2009, is finally coming to stores! Hooray!

These super pigmented, full coverage, long-wearing glosses claim to provide constant ultra-shine that will look like patent-leather on the lips. Plus the new formula contains an exquisite blend of antioxidants, essential oils, phenolic compounds and rhodiola rosea, a botanical extract known to improve mood, working to optimize serotonin and dopamine levels in the brain. So you will look and feel amazing at the same time!

Remember I told you that Barbie is making a comeback and releasing a line of makeup and skincare products? Now Mattel Inc. is also partnering with Stila to give us the Barbie Loves Stila collection!

The new, limited edition collection features a new eyeshadow quad and 4 sets of paint cans. Each paint can features the look of an iconic Barbie doll from the past 5 decades and inside each can, there is a palette with 2 eyeshadows and a cheek color, a lip glaze/lipstick, a mascara/liquid liner and a “Barbie Look Book” that includes a history of each top-selling Barbie doll. The collection will launch exclusively at Sephora in February, only at Sephora’s Fifth Avenue store in NY, international Sephora locations and Sephora.com.

Stila will also sponsor Mattel’s Barbie runway show during New York Fashion Week in February 2009 with 50 as-yet-undisclosed designers to produce life-size outfits inspired by Barbie. Charlotte Tilbury, who did makeup for the Victoria’s Secret fashion shows, will be the show’s lead makeup artist. More Barbie-Stila branded products will also emerge this coming fall. Yay go Barbie!

This set is modeled after the first Barbie doll. Her striking red lips and black-rimmed cat eyes is the epitome of the 50s glamour.

Here is something for all you Stila and Bebe fans! I have just received word that the two are collaborating to release 4 limited edition palettes – each with 3 eyeshadows and a convertible color. The palettes will be available on bebe.com and select Bebe stores. Prices and release date are still unknown but I will update you ladies once I have more information.

Knockout Purple Palette

The passion for purple this season is undeniable. Make sure your beauty wardrobe is up to par with this complete look featuring stila superstar products. Three wet/dry shadows, including Nude, Key and Wisteria, create a vibrant violet-hued eye. A convertible color in Petunia adds a fresh flush to the cheeks and lips for a complete fashion-forward look.

Stila Illuminating Liquid FoundationContaining “moisturizers infused with vitamins and whey protein to encourage supple, healthy skin”, Stila Illuminating Liquid Foundation ($35) is one of my favorite liquid foundations to brighten up a pale complexion during the winter.

The foundation comes in a heavy glass bottle that is cute but not very practical. For my MAC NC30 skin, I use 30 watts, a yellow-based shade suitable for light to medium skin tones.

The texture is slightly thick for a liquid foundation and can feel a little heavy, even on my dehydrated combination skin. But it is packed with tiny shimmer particles that create such a pretty yet natural-looking glow! Coverage is also light to medium and plenty enough for me.

Definitely a great foundation for the colder months!

Stila Angel Light Whitening Powder FoundationStila Angel Light Whitening Powder Foundation (~$47) was an Asian exclusive but thanks to its super cute packaging, I went through great lengths to get it.

The powder comes with SPF24+ and whitening properties to brighten your skin. I did not see any whitening effect but the high SPF is definitely a plus. The finish is also very matte yet it does not accentuate any dry patches.

The one thing I do not like, however, is the color. While I got it in my usual Stila shade (C), the foundation is very yellow and when it oxidizes, it gets darker by almost a shade.

As much as I love the cute packaging, I will not repurchase after I run out.
