This week, we will look at a question from Kei about makeup bases and primers.
“Hi Phyllis! I want to ask about primers/makeup bases. How important is it to use one and do you have any recommendations? Do most makeup bases have SPF? And what different kinds are there? I have seen makeup bases in pink, green, white etc. How do you know which one is right for you?”
Tiffany asked: “I love your site! It is sooooo helpful! What foundation brand would you recommend to cover up acne and scars? (The heaviest and fullest coverage so that everything disappears!)”
Answer:- Thanks Tiffany! Make Up For Ever HD Invisible Cover Foundation is the latest full coverage foundation that I tried and liked. Kevyn Aucoin Sensual Skin Enhancer and MAC Studio Sculpt Foundation are also two good choices with extremely heavy coverage.
One word about wearing full coverage foundation though – don’t, at least try not to do it on a daily basis. Why? Because slapping on heavy makeup can result in more clogged pores, more acne (your skin’s gotta breathe too girl!) and eventually turn into a viscous cycle. Plus full coverage foundations tend to look cakey and unnatural unless applied really skillfully. So instead of covering up bad skin with makeup, try to figure out what is causing your acne and work on fixing the problem itself.

Here is a brief Q&A regarding the use of false eyelashes. If you have more questions, leave a comment here and I will add them onto this entry.
Q: Hey Phyllis, is there a special way to take care of your falsies in order to maximize their life-span (3 to 4 uses?)
A: Of course there are ways you can make your false lashes last longer! I always reuse my lashes and I can use the same pair for up to 14 uses. The key is to treat them with ultra care so they stay in shape. Here are some tips:
For Sarah. Enjoy!
What Are Makeup Bases?
Basically, makeup bases are primers that are meant to be used before foundations. Their function is to even out the texture of the skin, correct skin tone irregularities, enhance the durability of foundation and minimize your pores.
