Ever wondered the differences between loose powders, pressed powders and two-way cakes? Here are the answers!

Just as its name suggests, Loose Powders are powder that come in loose form. They usually come in a sifting pot and are mostly used to set liquid foundation. Their coverage tends to range from sheer to medium. Available colors include translucent, flesh tones and correctors. Loose powders are also suitable for all types of skin.

Stila Angel Light Whitening Powder Foundation Review

Stila Angel Light Whitening Powder FoundationStila Angel Light Whitening Powder Foundation (~$47) was an Asian exclusive but thanks to its super cute packaging, I went through great lengths to get it.

The powder comes with SPF24+ and whitening properties to brighten your skin. I did not see any whitening effect but the high SPF is definitely a plus. The finish is also very matte yet it does not accentuate any dry patches.

The one thing I do not like, however, is the color. While I got it in my usual Stila shade (C), the foundation is very yellow and when it oxidizes, it gets darker by almost a shade.

As much as I love the cute packaging, I will not repurchase after I run out.

MAC Select Sheer Pressed Powder Review

MAC Select Sheer Pressed PowderMAC Select Sheer Pressed Powder ($20) is no doubt my favorite pressed powder and I have already gone through two of them. The powder is very finely milled and offers minimal coverage. I cannot say anything about its oil-controlling properties since I am on the dry side but this works excellent for touch-ups. It never looks chalky and feels so silky and almost creamy when applied on. I will definitely keep sticking to this until I find something better.

Chanel Natural Finish Pressed Powder Review

Chanel Natural Finish Pressed PowderChanel Natural Finish Pressed Powder ($42) was my go-to powder back in high school. I had it in the second lightest shade, Clair, which is a great match for my NC30 skin/

The powder is very fine and looks almost translucent. It gives a natural-looking translucent matte finish when applied over makeup and I use it mainly for touch-ups. I love how it soaks up oil well without drying out my skin and just looks so natural. The sleek packaging and the huge mirror is also a great plus. Loves it!
