On June 9th and 10th, The Makeup Show will return to Chicago for the third time with bigger, better talents and more beauty brands!
At Creatures of the Wind A/W 2013, NARS Director of Global Artistry James Boehmer created a makeup look that complements the collection by adding a new element. “You see the pearl on their cheeks, and an angular line that almost makes the look hard and not so feminine, like a Teddy girl in the UK after World War II. I also wanted to balance Chris and Shane’s inspiration of artificiality, and candy, by creating a look that had a combination of matte and pearl but no real sense of contour, depth or color.” said James.
Yet another 20s inspired look emerged on the runway of Naeem Khan A/W 2013 collection. “The reference for the beauty look was Lady Mary from Downton Abbey. It’s a decadent 1920’s, lived in feel that’s all about the eyebrow. The skin we kept a natural finish to make the brows feel less costume-y”, said James Boehmer, NARS Director of Global Artistry.
At Carmen Marc Valvo A/W 2013, NARS Director of Global Artistry James Boehmer created a punk-inspired look with imperfect eyeliner, luminous skin and a red lip.
Drawing inspiration from a character from a Godzilla film, NARS Global Director of Artistry James Boehmer teamed up with Kérastase Paris Hairstylist Odile Gilbert to create “beauty that’s raw, but still ladylike” at the Creatures of the Wind S/S 2013 show.
At Honor A/W 2012, James Boehmer, NARS Director of Global Artistry, created beautiful, luminous and glossy skin with eyes that are deliberate and sculpted in a chalky grey shade.
