Yet another 20s inspired look emerged on the runway of Naeem Khan A/W 2013 collection. “The reference for the beauty look was Lady Mary from Downton Abbey. It’s a decadent 1920’s, lived in feel that’s all about the eyebrow. The skin we kept a natural finish to make the brows feel less costume-y”, said James Boehmer, NARS Director of Global Artistry.
François Nars, Founder & Creative Director of NARS Cosmetics, once again created the look for the Marc Jacobs A/W 2013 runway show. This time, the “eye is smokey, but round and defined, and we created really matte, perfect skin. It’s Joan Jett meets Marianne Faithfull meets punk rock.”
NARS teamed up with John Frieda to create the gorgeous look at Rodarte A/W 2013. While hairstylist Odile Gilbert went for a rocker princess look with a cool, “undone” texture, lead makeup artist James Kaliardos described the look as “the idea of makeup that had been applied on the beach – a bit messy, as if the mascara fell onto their faces. Speckled – like stars in the sky.”
The look at Helmut Lang A/W 2013 is all about creamy, polished, gorgeous skin, with the strength coming from the eyebrows. “The girls with dark hair have bold brows, while the blonde girls have muted ones. It’s monochromatic, but I wanted the girls to feel real and beautiful.” said lead artist Hannah Murray for NARS Cosmetics.
At Alexander Wang Fall 2013, NARS Cosmetics created an “almost hooded… matte look, with a gradation of grey color brushed up into brows” while CND created a time worn sand stone manicure on an androgynous length providing an urban vibe.
At Carmen Marc Valvo A/W 2013, NARS Director of Global Artistry James Boehmer created a punk-inspired look with imperfect eyeliner, luminous skin and a red lip.
